Twila Bigelow
GREEN RIVER – Twila Hunt Bigelow joined her beloved husband, John Bigelow, on Jan. 30, 2002.
Born Feb. 15, 1920 in Green River to Willis Lafeyette Hunt and Rua Ett Watson. Twila and John were married in the Manti LDS Temple Nov. 22, 1940. She lived in Green River her entire life.
Her life revolved around her greatest joy, her family. She was the mother of five sons and two daughters, grandmother of 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She loved her small community and had many great friends and family members as her neighbors.
Twila loved to cook and enjoyed her work in the school lunch program. She served in various callings in the LDS Church and especially loved working with the children.
Twila was valiant as her health declined over the last 10 years. She seldom complained, enduring great pain and physical limitations.
With great respect and love, her family honor her and her life of service.

Preceded in death by husband, John Bigelow; mother, Rua Ett Hunt; father, Willis Lafeyette Hunt; and brothers, Don, Verald and Loran Hunt
Funeral was Monday, Feb. 4, at the Green River LDS Chapel. Burial was in the Elgin Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Duane Frandsen
PROVO – Duane Anderson Frandsen, 87, passed away Jan. 31, 2002 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of complications due to a fall.
He was born March 13, 1914 in Ephraim, the oldest child of Burgess Lyman and Elizabeth Anderson Frandsen. Duane married Velma Black in the Logan LDS Temple on Aug. 8, 1941. They were the parents of four children.
Duane was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was faithfully devoted to his family, church and community.
He will be missed deeply by his family and friends.
Duane earned his law degree and practiced law in Price, was district attorney of five counties in central Utah and former Utah State Bar president. Served on development committees for BYU and UVSC. Served on board of trustees of the College of Eastern Utah. Had been actively involved and received many awards of recognition connected with the community and Utah National Parks Scouting Council. He was vice president of the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Price Lions Club.
Duane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as bishop, high counselor, stake president, patriarch in Price, Price LDS Stake and patriarch in the Edgemont North LDS Stake. Served a mission with his wife to the Mesa LDS Temple Visitors Center.
He loved being with his horses and at the cabin near Scofield.
Survived by his wife, Velma; his four children, Wayne (Penny) of Arlington, Texas; Jerry of Moab; Camille (Michael) Jensen and Clyda (Michael) Harrison, both of Price; a daughter-in-law, Pat Frandsen of Price; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Odell of Alpine; G. Pete of Sandy; LaRue McCann of California; and Beth Hartman of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nellie; and a brother, Garth.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 4, at the Riverwoods LDS Ward Chapel in Provo under the direction of Berg Mortuary. Graveside services followed at the Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the LDS missionary fund or the College of Eastern Utah – Duane A. Frandsen Scholarship Fund.
Susie Montez
HELPER – Susie Arroyo Montez, age 85, passed away Jan. 31, 2002 in Provo.
She was born June 6, 1916 in Penjamo, Mexico, to Timothy and Maria Razo Arroyo. Married Phillip Montez Feb. 17, 1931 in Price. He died Dec. 18, 1976.
Member of the Catholic Church.
Susie enjoyed gardening with her geraniums and cooking for anyone who came to her home.
Survived by three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Delores (Louie) Ornelas, Merced, Calif.; Alfred L. (Vivian) Montez, Helper; Mary Ellen (Terry) Quintana, Salt Lake City; Anita (Dean) Peterson, Springville; Jessie (Nancy) Montez, Caracas, Venezuela; sister, Toni (Augustine) Medina, Helper; 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husband; son, Phillip Jr.; daughter, Caroline Hernandez; two brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa for taking excellent care of grandma.
Funeral Mass Thursday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service Wednesday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Louis Canchola
HELPER – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and longtime friend, Louis Canchola, age 105, passed away Jan. 29, 2002 at his daughter’s home in West Valley.
He was born Aug. 19, 1896 in Penjamo, Mexico to Feliciano and Trinidad Granados Canchola. He married Jesus Madrigal, October 1942 in Price.
Member of the Spanish Assembly of God Church. Longtime resident of Carbon County where he worked for various coal mines and the D. & R. G. W. for many years. Louis retired from the Utah State Department of Health. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his home.
Survived by son, Fidel O. (Christina) Sanchez, Spring Glen, daughters, Jenny Sandoval, Seattle, Wash., Irene (Billy) Trujillo, West Valley. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 2, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery.
Eralia Santistevan
HELPER-TOOELE – Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend, Erailia Santistevan, age 75, passed away Jan. 28, 2002 in the Tooele Valley Hospital.
She was born Feb. 5, 1926 in Monte Vista, Colo. to Marcial and Agueda Marquez Lopez. She married Henry Santistevan. He died Feb. 15, 1994.
Member of the Catholic Church. Resident of Carbon County since 1950. Eralia loved singing and dancing.
Survived by son, Joe H. (Tessie) Santistevan, Tooele; grandson, Deon (Paula) Santistevan, South Weber; four great -grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, infant son, grandson, Dino Santistevan; brothers, Joe and Trinidad Lopez; sister, Flavia Martinez and dear friend Joe Martinez.
The family acknowledges with gratitude the doctors, nurses, therapists and aides at Tooele Valley Hospital, Tooele Valley Nursing Home and Rocky Mountain Care in West Valley.

Iris Fullmer
FERRON – Iris Norma Petty Peterson Fullmer, age 87, passed away Feb. 3, 2002 in Ferron.
She was born June 28, 1914 in Emery to Issac Adelbert Petty and Anena Simonsen. Married Robert E. Lee Peterson, later divorced. Married Eugene S. Fullmer in October 1958 at Elko, Nev. He died Aug. 28, 1971.
Member of the LDS Church. Member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 42 for 25 years.
Iris loved working in her yard and caring for the Ferron City Cemetery.
She was a former employee of the Emery County Nursing Home and will be dearly missed by her family and a community of longtime friends.
Survived by her daughters, Deanna Diener, Minocaqua, Wis.; Pat (David) Behling, Ferron; son, Gary L. (Kathy) Peterson, Carson, Calif.; sisters, Lily Mae Montroy, Victorville, Calif.; Yudella P. Miles, Escondido, Calif.; special friend, Richard E. Behling, Ferron; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral service Monday, Feb. 11, noon, Ferron LDS Stake Center. Family will be at the stake center Monday two hours prior to service. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral of Price.
Barry K. Nielson
HEBER CITY, Barry Kay Nielson, age 34 passed away at his home Tues. Jan. 29, 2002 due to respiratory failure.
Barry was born April 4, 1967 in Price to Wilford Ray Nielson and Dora Farester Gilson. He grew up mostly in the Heber Valley. Some of the highlights of Barry’s life were wrestling for Wasatch High School and serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Columbus, Ohio. Graduated with Airline Transport Pilot Rating in Oklahoma. He was currently working with Swift Transportation in Salt Lake City.
He married Alisha VanLandschoot, March 17, 1989 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He loved to spend time with his family. Enjoyed boating, fishing and snowmobiling with his family.
Survived by his wife, four children; Chelsea, Chase, Cameron and Caroline. His parents: one sister, Diane Peterson and Randy (Angie) Nielson. Numerous other family and friends.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held on Sat. Feb. 2 at noon at the Heber East Stake Center, 2400 S. Mill Road (1200 E.) Friends called at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home in Heber City on Friday and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial followed in the Heber City Cemetery.
