Bonnie A. Petty


BOUNTIFUL/EMERY – Bonnie A. Petty, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, age 89, passed away Mar. 18, 2002, from Parkinson’s disease in Bountiful. She was born Jan. 14, 1913, to Arthur and Virtue Anderson. She married her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Petty, on Feb. 20, 1931. They were sealed to each other and their five children on July 19, 1950, in the Manti LDS Temple.
They made their home in Emery, where Art ran the Browning coal mine and Bonnie stayed at home with her five children. Together, she and her husband served a mission teaching the Native Americans in Arizona as well as a mission in the Provo Temple. After her husband passed away, Bonnie continued to serve her Heavenly Father and completed missions in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; Spokane, Wash.; and in the Manti Temple. She was always happy when serving the Lord. She eventually moved to Salt Lake and later on to Bountiful.
She will be mourned by those who were close to her and her many friends at Barton Creek and South Davis Community Hospital. She always had a beautiful smile for anyone who came to visit her at South Davis Community Hospital and the nurses from Hospice. They expressed their love for her by the way they took care of her needs.
She is survived by her four children: Horace (Virginia), of Orangeville; Clara (Udell) Albrechtsen, of Bountiful; Gary (Jolene) of Emery; Patricia (Clyde) Sitterud of South Carolina. Twenty grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Also two sisters: Bertha Dennison of Price, and Bessie Christman of Carbonville; Three brothers: Robert (Olene) Anderson, Lyle (Belle) Anderson, and Dwaine (Luella) Anderson all of Emery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Luzon Petty, a daughter and son-in-law, Rex and Barbara Addley, and two brothers; Elmo and Melburn Anderson.
Funeral services were held March 22, 2002, in the Emery LDS Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary of Castle Dale.

Ella Passarella


PRICE- Ella Mar Olsen Passarella, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2002.
She was born Feb. 24, 1924 in Hiawatha, to Ira Glen and Myrtle Bishop Olsen. Married Frank Joseph Passarella on June 26, 1941 in Helper. He died Oct. 3, 1994. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Graduate Carbon High School class of 1941.
Ella worked for the Western Union offices in San Francisco and Price for 21 years and also worked for numerous doctors in Carbon County for 14 years.
Ella was a volunteer extraordinaire for the Carbon County Senior Citizens, RSVP and she was the driving force behind the Vial of Life Program offered through TRIAD-S.A.L.T.
She was also a volunteer for the Senior and Law Enforcement Together, Cell phones for Seniors and was a Pen Pal for many third graders at Creekview Elementary.
Ella was proud of her home and yard. She was musically inclined and she enjoyed playing the organ and clarinet.
Survived by; son, Billy Passarella of Telford Penn.; three grandchildren, Lisa, Angela and Joseph: five greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Reid (Bill) and Lois Olsen of Helper; Byron & Carol Olsen Of Price.
She was preceded in death by parents, son Michael Passarellla, two brothers Ernest and Laray Olsen, two sisters Thelma Passarelli and Mabel Olsen.
Funeral Service March 27, 2002, 2 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment Price City Cemetery.

Charlie Maddera


EAST CARBON CITY- Charles Clayton Maddera, age 39 died March 22, 2002 at his home. He was born Jan. 8, 1963 in East Carbon to Charles Leon and Ruth Nidiffer Maddera. Married Julie Ann Bass, Nov. 3, 1990 in East Carbon.
Longtime resident of East Carbon where he attended the First Baptist Church of Sunnyside. He served in the US Navy.
Charlie loved traveling, hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He had a special love for music and he loved singing to his wife.
He is survived by; his wife, Julie Maddera, son, Robert Lee Maddera, Daughter, Amanda Marie Maddera all of East Carbon: parents, Charles L. and Ruth Maddera, Pahrump, Nev. sister, Barbara (Blake) Ostovich, Salt Lake City; sister, Sandi Williams, Pahrump, NV; in-laws, Bob and Virginia Bass of East Carbon; many loving aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service March 27, 2002 11a.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home daily.

Mary “Allie” Green West


SALT LAKE CITY/PRICE – Mary Alberta Harkness Green West, age 84, passed away March 23, 2002 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
She was born Sept. 30, 1917 in Murray to William Davis and Louisa Killpack Harkness.
Married Clyde Melvin Green, June 24, 1938 in Murray. He died Oct. 21, 1982. Married Elmer West Aug. 9, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nev. He died Oct. 19, 1998. “Allie” enjoyed her family and she especially loved caring for her children and grandchildren.
She was an accomplished pianist and she loved to dance. “Allie” loved sewing clothes for herself and for her doll collection.
Survived by; daughter, Peggy (Brent) Griggs of Price; stepson, Gary (Lorraine) West of Salt Lake City, step-son, Dick (Virginia) West of Benson, Ariz; grandson, Todd (Lisa) Griggs of Chandler, Ariz; granddaughter, Kari (Bill) Spigarelli of Price; sister, Dorothy Losser of Salt Lake City; brother, Calvin LaVar (Dot) Harkness of Lake Havasu; 4 great grandchildren, Jeremy, Nate, Haley and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gary Green, three sisters and one brother.
Graveside service, March 26, 2002 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E. in Sandy. Family will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 S. 1950 E., Tuesday from 11-11:50 a.m. Under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Suzie Tappan


MILLER CREEK- Suzanne Marie Feichko Tappan left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2002. She was born Aug. 29, 1955 to Frank Harry and Carol Preston Feichko.
Suzie’s love of the Lord affected all those who were touched by her. She was a very gracious person always showing the grace of God to those she came in contact with. She was all about compassion and dedication. She continually helped anyone that needed her. She will be missed dearly by her many friends that she adopted through her journey of love. She loved her special friends Bill Zele and Nelda Davenport.
Her love overflowed onto her family. Her husband Mike was the love of her life and her soul mate. They spent years enjoying camping and fishing and just being together.
She loved her daughter with all her heart. They were best friends. She was the best Grandma and will be missed dearly by Cody, Cory, Frankie and Christopher. She was a loving sister and a great friend. Her smile was a ray of sunshine that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by; husband, Mike; daughter, Tina and David Stokes; grandchildren, Cody, Cory, Frankie and Christoper. Stepdaughter, Angela and Brian Cooper; and their children; Stepson, Travis Barrington; parents, Frank, Harry and Carol Feichko; sisters Pat Preston, Molley and Paul Pantone, Katie Siddons, Sabrina and John Manuel; brothers, Frank and Juanita Feichko, Matthew Feichko and Jason Feichko; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by brother Joe Feichko, grandparents Bill and Laree Preston, Andrew and Julie Feichko.
Funeral Service March 28, 2002, 1 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening 7-9 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment Feichko Family Cemetery, Miller Creek.

Wilene Canto


KENILWORTH – Elsie Wilene Kilgore Canto, age 82, died March 19, 2002 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
She was born Feb. 12, 1920 in Tracy City, Tenn., to William and Bertha Sietz Kilgore. Married Adolph Canto Oct. 13, 1950 in Elko, Nev. He died Dec. 23, 1979.
Member of the Price United Methodist Church. Elsie graduated from Zeigler High School and Southern University in Illinois with a bachelors in teaching. After graduation she taught fifth grade in Zeigler, Ill., prior to moving to Utah. Elsie worked as a secretary for Dr. Demman, Helper Rexall Drug and Columbia Steel at Horse Canyon for many years. She was a resident of Kenilworth since 1950 and taught school at Helper Jr. High for 30 years.
Survived by sister, Mary Helen McGlasson, Orem; nephew, Ron Canto, Mapleton; niece, Kathy Zobell, Orem; sister-in-law, Norma Canto, Mapleton; and Wilene’s loving family, Ron and Marlene Parkin and their children. Preceded in death by parents; and dear niece, Kathleen McGlasson.
The family would like to thank everyone at Castleview Hospital, especially Dr. Williams, Dr. Poitras and Rev. Nancy Boswell.
Memorial graveside service was held March 23 at 1 p.m. Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Price United Methodist Church, 10 N. 200 East.

Milton Oliver Kirkreit


RIVERSIDE, CALIF.,/ CASTLE DALE – Milton Oliver Kirkreit, age 72, was born January 9, 1930, in Edmore, N.D.
Milt died at Corona Regional Medical Center at 1:15 a.m. on March 19, 2002, of pulmonary fibrosis. Milton is survived by Patricia Kirkreit, his wife of 46 years. They retired from Norco, Calif., lived in Castle Dale, for eight years, and moved back to Riverside, Calif; this year. They were active members of the Ascension/ St. Mathews (Lutheran) Church in Price.
Milt spent four years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Rapid City, S. D.
Milt had one son; Steven Jess Kirkreit of Riverside, Calif., two daughters; Tracee Stewart (hus- band, Jeff) of Corona, Calif., and Kristan Reed (husband, Jeff) of Riverside, Calif. Milt had one grandson and four granddaughters: Steven Tyler and Jessie Nicole Kirkreit of Streator, Il., Cortney Nicole Davis and Lauren Ashlee Stewart of Corona, Calif., and Daniele Elizabeth Estrada of Riverside, Calif. He had one step-grandson, Zachary Reed.
Milt had three brothers Robert (Karma Kirkreit of Norco, Calif.; Gary (Roylene) Kirkreit of Placentia, Calif.; Willard (Barbara) Kirkreit of Altrus, Calif.; three sisters; Opal (Pete) Ellingson of Corona, Calif.; Gloria Anderson of Sun City, Calif.; and Carol (David) Melland of Garden Grove, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents Ollai and Ester Kirkreit and sister, Hazel (Paul) Judd.
