Benita Gomez


HELPER – Benita Eleanor Gomez, age 47, died April 25, 2002 in Price.
She was born Jan. 26, 1955 in Kenilworth, to Benito and Dolores Gonzales Gomez and raised by Edwin and Virginia Wilson.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Benita was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and for nearly 20 years she was a valued employee and dear co-worker to everyone at Peczuh Printing Company.
Benita enjoyed playing the guitar, keyboard, singing and will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by three daughters, Bobbi (Jarrod) Smith, Brenda (Allen) Smallwood, both of Green River, Wyo.; Lisa Smith of Price; companion, Kevin Ferguson, Spring Glen; grandchildren, Jeff, Zak, Brooke, Mikelle, Tylynn and Sabrina; four brothers; three sisters; and a community of dear friends. She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral service Tuesday, April 30, 11 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.

Ella Cunningham


HUNTINGTON/GRANTS-VILLE – Ella Rebecca Cunning-ham, age 85, passed away April 26, 2002 in Price.
She was born July 1, 1917 in Cokeville Wyo. She married Delmar D. Cunningham in Salt Lake City.
After having three children he joined the U.S. Army, leaving her with four children to raise while he was away. She worked at Hughs Aircraft where she was the first woman riveter there. In 1960 they returned to Grantsville where she worked at the Tooele Army Depot as a munitions handler until her retirement.
After he husband’s passing in 1976, she traveled extensively and became a very good photographer.
She enjoyed the simple things of life and found pleasure working in her yard.
She is survived by children, Delmar David (Ruth) Cunning-ham Jr.,Brigham City; Dennis L. Cunningham, Huntington; Tona Cunningham, Mesa, Ariz.; Yvonne Cunningham, Florida; Cynthia and Nelson Harris, Idaho; and Bruce (Sarah) Cunningham, California; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; and daughter, Renee.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 2, in the Grantsville Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Family will gather at Tate Funeral Home in Tooele one hour prior to services.

Edna Cullum


CASTLE DALE – Edna Ramage Cullum, age 77, passed away Friday, April 26, 2002 in Salt Lake City following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 21, 1924 in Hiawatha, one of nine children to John “Jack” and Susannah Wilstead Ramage.
Edna graduated from Emery High School and married her sweetheart, Carrol E. Cullum May 2, 1942, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She and her husband lived throughout Carbon and Emery counties including Castle Gate, Hiawatha, Lawrence, Sunnyside and Castle Dale. They also lived several years in Eagle Mountain, Calif.
Edna was a loving wife and mother. Her greatest joy was her family and she was never happier than when with them. She served in many positions in the LDS Church including service in the Relief Society, Primary, Gospel Doctrine instructor, Stake missionary and temple worker. She also served several years on the Emery County library board.
Edna is survived by husband of 60 years, Carrol Cullum of Castle Dale; son, Loren (Ann) Cullum of Salt Lake City; daughter, Paulene (Terry), Carr of Castle Dale; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 1, 11 a.m., in the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial, Lawrence Cemetery.

Rose Suvada


EAST CARBON CITY – Rose Josephine Skufca Suvada, age 81, died April 23, 2002 in Price.
She was born Oct. 18, 1920 in Scofield, to Joe and Mary Bezyack Skufca. Married Matt Koski, 1937, in Scofield, later divorced. Married Edward Louis Suvada march 12, 1949 in Grand Junction, Colo. He died Feb. 22, 1987.
Survived by daughter, Rochelle (Jack) Strickland, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Matt Strickland, Janelle Culbreth, Larry and Chris Turner; three great-grandchildren, and a community of friends. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jo Edda Turner.
Graveside service was held Thurs., April 25, at the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
