Ron Taylor, manager of Huntington, Millsite and Scofield State Parks has accepted a promotion with the Division of Parks and Recreation as the new manager of Antelope Island State Park. Antelope Island is Utah’s largest state park with more than 28,000 acres of park land and is home to more than 700 head of buffalo as well as other wildlife including big horn sheep, mule deer, and of course, antelope.
Taylor and his family have been residents of Castle Dale for the past six years. Taylor and his wife, Suzanne, have been active in scouting both on a unit and district level and have organized day camps, round tables, scout-a-ramas and have participated in other scouting events. The Taylor family has been part of the Castle Valley Pageant, spoken at girl’s camps and historical society events.
Taylor has accomplished a great deal as manager of Huntington and Millsite State Parks, including many improvements to the facilities at both parks. “I have really enjoyed the people of Emery County and the many opportunities to be a part of the community. We look forward to coming back often to visit and appreciate everyone for their support of Huntington and Millsite,” said Taylor. “We leave with mixed feelings. We are excited about the new challenges of Antelope Island but will miss the many friends and partners we had here in Emery County.”
