Huntington City


Huntington City secondary water schedule. There will be no watering from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Even numbered houses and lots will water Monday and Thursday. Odd numbered houses and lots will water Tuesday and Friday. Churches, schools, mobile home parks, cemetery, ball fields and city park will water Wednesday and Saturday. Absolutely no watering on Sunday. Anyone not following the water schedule or wasting water will be subjected to penalties. 1st offense-warning, 2nd offense-citation, 3rd offense-loss of secondary water for season.

Summer Swimming Pool Hours


Castle Dale City swimming pool summer schedule will go as follows. Aquasize: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5:30-6:30 a.m.; Monday-Friday, 7:30-8:30 a.m.; Laps: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 6:30-7:30 a.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30- 7:30 a.m.; Family Night: Monday 7-9 p.m.; Open Swim: Monday-Saturday, 12- 7 p.m. For more information call the pool at 381-5298.

Castle Dale Area Needs Host Families


Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive very soon for academic semester and year program homestays, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families. Castle Dale area families interested in learning more about student exchange or arranging for a meeting with a community representative may call P.I.E., toll free at 1-800-631-1818.

Cleveland City Meeting


Cleveland City Meeting has been changed to Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.

Food Handler’s Classes


There will be food handler’s classes taught in Price on Aug. 14 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Southeastern Utah District Health Department, 28 South 100 East, Price. The classes are two hours in length and there will be a charge to take the test. For more information call Dr. Claron D. Bjork at 637-3671 in Price.
The food handler’s classes that were to be held in Castle Dale on Aug. 15 by the Southeastern Utah District Health Department, have been canceled.

SRJH Registration


San Rafael Junior High will be holding their registration on August 13. The times are 9-4 p.m. for 8-9th graders and 4-6 p.m. for 7 graders and new student orientation.

Ferron Memory Afghan


Old Mill Camp is selling Ferron Memory Afghans. They are selling these afghans to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the settlement of Ferron. They contain historical images as well as current Ferron sites. Call 384-2648 or 384-2902 for more information.

Canyon View Jr. High Volleyball Camp


Canyon View Jr. High will hold a girls volleyball camp Aug.19 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and Aug. 20 from 3:30-5:30. All 7th-9th grade girls wishing to participate can come to the Jr. High on those days. Try-outs will be Aug. .21-23.

Canyon View Football


Football starts on August 15 at 6 p.m. There will be a participation fee, that includes shorts, mouth piece, shirts, socks, and equipment rental. You will need a physical if you did not play sports at the junior high school last year. Any questions call coach Eric Mortensen 687-5022.

1992 Class Reunion


There will be a class reunion for all 1992 graduates on August 16-17. The End Time Prophecy Seminar


Israel, Palestine, the Middle East, Sept. 11, droughts, wars, famines, rumors of wars, asteroids. What do the events of the present have to do with the prophecies of the Bible? Bob Farber is a Jewish Christian who has studied biblical prophecy for over 20 years. Bob will be at Freedom Christian Fellowship for an entire week teaching on how biblical prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes. Yard Sale Fund-raiser


A huge multifamily yard sale fund-raiser will be held for Sharon Oveson who is a victim of MS. The yard sale will be held at the home of Isabelle Oveson, 110 West 200 North, Huntington, on August 23 from 9-5 p.m. and August 24 at 9-5 p.m.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat


Auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat will be held on August 29 at 7 p.m. at the Ferron LDS Church, 200 North State Street. There will be roles for narrators, 12 brothers and solos. Audition packets are available at all libraries.

Rocky Mountain School of Baseball


The Rocky Mountain School of Baseball’s 9th Annual Fall Super League will begin on Sept. 7 along the Wasatch Front. Doubleheaders will be played on Saturday’s in the following age groups; Jr. Div: 8-9,10-u, 11-u, 12-u, 13-u. Sr. Div. (wood bat league): 14-u, 15-16, &17-18. Utah Shakespearean Festival


The Utah Shakespearean Festival for the summer season of 2003 will be held through Aug. 30 and the fall season from Sept. 18 through Oct. 18. The summer season will include William Shakespeare’s, “Measure for Measure, Much Ado about Nothing, and Richard III”, also the historical musical 1776, Born Yesterday and The Servant of Two masters. The fall season will feature Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors,” the musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, and the Oscar Wilde comedy, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”

Benefit for Rocky Olsen


Huntington Lion’s Club presents the 2nd Annual Country Hoe Down in benefit for Rocky Olsen who has Leukemia. It will be held on August 17 at the Huntington park. There will be a BBQ dinner and raffle from 5-7 p.m. and entertainment by the Val Jensen’s RT 10 Band from 7-9 p.m.

Emery County Historical Society


The Emery County Historical Society presents its Annual Cowboy Poetry evening at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22. The host location this year is the Castle Valley Ranch between Ferron and Emery. Bring your lawn chairs and jackets and plan to settle in for an enjoyable time of new poems and new music by old favorites. Everyone welcome. Veterans, Widows and Dependents


A field Service Officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), will be in the area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to qualify for assistance. The VFW Field Service Officer will be working out of the Price Workforce Service Center from 9-11 a.m. on August 21.

A.W.A.N.A. Club


A.W.A.N.A. Club will be starting back up again on Sept. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the Desert Edge Christian Chapel in Huntington. There will be games, music, bible lessons, and treats. V.A. Regional Office Is Moving


Effective July 1, our new address and location is: Department of Veterans Affairs, 550 Foothill Drive, P.O.Box 581900, Salt Lake City, Utah 84158-1900. The building is located on the Southwest corner of Foothill and Wasatch Drives, on the grounds of the VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System.

Veteran, Dependents, Widows


A service officer from the American Legion will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for VA benefits, including compensation, pension, hospitalization, education and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be a member of the American Legion to recieve assistance. The Service Officer will be at the Department of Workforce Services Price Employment Center, 475 West Price River Drive, Suite 256 on Wed. Sept. 11 from 9-10:30 a.m.

Grant Writing Class


Utah State University is offering a Grant Writing Class for the fall semester. Classes will be held on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the CEU campus, room CBB 103, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a cost for the class and course materials. Support Group


Bringing hope to single moms support group and self-reliance class now being offered in Castle Dale. Open to the public free of charge. It will be held on Thursday evenings from 7-8 p.m. There will be on site child care available with prior notice. Helping Utah Children Hear Program


The Helping Utah Children Hear Program is accepting applications from families of children under the age of 21 years who are in need of hearing aids. Families whose income qualifies are eligible for a free set of hearing aids that the child may keep. Southeastern Utah District Health Department is offering a clinic for women between the age 40- 64. Get a private check-up by a female provider. Get a pap test and breast exam. Receive a free mammogram voucher. Women must meet age and income guideline to qualify for a free exam and mammogram. For more information call 381-2252.

Financial Assistance Network has published a booklet, “How to get up to $25,000 of Government money to help reduce your energy bills.” The booklet gives information on how and where Salt Lake City area homeowners can get government help to reduce their heating and cooling bills.
