Emery Football Off and Running

The Canyon View High School junior varsity and sophomore teams traveled to Castle Dale on Thursday for some football action at Emery High. The junior varsity team came away with the win and the sophomores were unsuccessful in their matchup and were defeated by a score of 18-6.
The Spartans varsity team traveled to Canyon View where they added a win. The first touchdown of the game was scored by Josh Sharp. Jason Parrish ran the ball in for a touchdown which put the Spartans up 12-0. The defense was able to hold Canyon View to 6 points. The defense had a good game as they intercepted three passes. Sharp, Bowie Jeffs and Kenny Eley all picked off a pass. Parrish had 98 yards rushing and Kadin Wilson rushed for 11 yards. Quarterback Garrett Swenson passed the ball for 79 yards. The Spartans ended up on top for the win with a score of 12-6. The Spartans are 2-0 for the season. They will play Dixie on Sept. 6 in Castle Dale at 7 p.m.
