EAST CARBON -Oral Mellissa Guymon, age 87, passed away Sept. 10 in Orem. She was born Oct. 1, 1914 in Huntington to Theo and Katie LeRoy. Oral married Niel B. Guymon Nov. 27, 1933 in Castle Dale, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings. She served a stake mission and she and her husband served in the Manti Temple for over three years. She was a very good wife, mother and homemaker who made wonderful pies and could out fish her husband.
She is survived by her children; LouAnn and Bob Hainsworth of West Valley City, Art and Sharron Guymon of Lehi, Don and Doreen Guymon of Vernal, and Shanna and Richard Seitz of Salem; 18 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a special sister-in-law, Francie Handley. Also survived by one sister; Lorraine Campbell. Preceded in death by her husband Niel, one great grandchild and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Sat. Sept. 14 at noon at Fausett Mortuary in Price where friends called from 10-11:45 a.m. Burial was in the Huntington Cemetery.

Carlene Olson


WELLINGTON/SALT LAKE CITY – Our beloved Carlene Kay Olson, age 37, returned to her loving Father in Heaven and into her mother’s arms on Sept. 14, 2002.
She was born April 9, 1965 in Salt Lake City to Martin Carl and Mary Grace Dubray Olson.
Carlene was a loving and caring person who had a great love for her animals. She loved drawing, working jigsaw puzzles and she especially loved her shopping.
Carlene was a graduate of Carbon High School in 1984.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many dear friends.
She is survived by her parents, Martin C. (Ronda) Olson, Wellington; three sisters and two brothers, Jody (Tom) Ellner, Helper; Martin S. (Amy) Olson, Price; Camille Stansfield, Wellington; Amber (Sam) Baker, Wellington; Cody (Valerie) Lopan, Price; and her four loving nephews and seven nieces.
Preceded in death by her mother, Grace Olson; and infant sister, Margerete Denise.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 11 a.m., Wellington 4th LDS Ward Chapel.
Family will be at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Maudie Moffitt


HUNTINGTON – Maudie Moffitt, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away after a short illness in Salt Lake City on Sept. 13, 2002.
She was born July 22, 1908 in Huntington to Joseph E. and Elizabeth Howard Johnson. She was the youngest of seven children. She married Fenton Moffitt in the Manti LDS Temple in 1933.
She was a resident of Huntington for 86 years. Maudie graduated from Snow College and taught elementary school, mostly in Huntington for over 40 years. Her kindness and teaching touched so many lives and she is still fondly remembered by many in the community today.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions throughout her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Norman) Jackson, Martinez, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Maudie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fenton, in 1981; and a daughter, Lorraine Nielsen, in 1997.
Friends may call for a viewing Wed., Sept. 18, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Funeral services will follow at the church at noon. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
