County observes September 11 with programs in memory of America’s heroes of the past and present

Ferron Elementary retires its old flag and raises a new flag.

As the one year anniversary of September 11 came with the new designation of Patriot’s Day, schools around Emery County honored the flag and heroes of the past and present.
Ferron Elementary had a ceremony to retire their flag. On hand were members of the American Legion from Ferron. Those American Legion member were: Ramal Jones, Lee Grim, Sam Singleton, Tom Reynolds, Marvin Gardner, George Conover, Dennis Nelson and Phillip Nelson. They presented a 21 gun salute and explained to the students the reasons for this salute.
Huntington and Bookcliff Elementary, along with most of the other schools in Emery County, presented a patriotic program consisting of flag ceremonies and patriotic songs.
Jamie Jensen, Cory Wilcox and Owen Olsen were honored guests of Cleveland Elementary at its patriotic program.
Utah Highway Patrol Officers who provide for the safety of everyone in Emery County include: Jeff Horrocks, Darrel Smith, Gordon Bennett, Steve Salas, Nathan Lindsey, Jason Haywood, Travis Lemon, Roger Larsen, Darrell Mecham, Richard Nelson, Guy Webster.
