Vickie Jenkins
PRICE – Vickie Lynn Fisher Jenkins went to meet her Heavenly Father Sept. 19, 2002 after many years of battling illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1954 in Price to Clifton Dale and Delores Wanda Smith Jones.
She will be dearly missed. Vickie was a long time resident of Price and graduated from Carbon High. She was a member of the LDS Price 11th Ward. Vickie’s love for music and dance is being carried on by her children and grandchildren. Vickie had a love for life and loved spending time with friends, family and her babies. Vickie will always have a special place in everyone’s heart that knew her.
She is survived by first husband, Richard Fisher; current husband, Les Jenkins; son, Richard Fisher Jr.; daughter, Crystal Barnes Jewell; six grandchildren; sister, Debbie Lacy; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greeted by her grandparents, father, mother and brother.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Fausett Mortuary in Price from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Price City cemetery at 11 a.m. Interment to follow.
Tamra Norton
HUNTINGTON – Tamra “Tami” Lyn Norton, age 28, returned home to her Heavenly Father Sept. 25, 2002.
“Tam-Bam” as she is known to her family, was born July 6, 1974 in Ogden, to Barry R. and Lynda D. Norton.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tami devoted her life to her son, Dylan. She enjoyed sports, fishing, camping and music. She earned her Young Woman medallion. She shared her heart with everyone she came in contact with. Tami is a beloved mom, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt and friend.
Tami is survived by son, Dylan, Huntington; parents, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sisters, Heather (Scott) Stilson, Orangeville; Stacee Norton, Pittsburgh, Pa.; brothers, Josh Norton, Sunnyside; Jared (Jasa) Norton, Huntington; grandparents, Robert and LaVay Reynolds, East Carbon; Ross and Melene Norton, Wellington; four aunts and uncles; three nephews; one niece and 16 cousins.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 30, Huntington 1st/5th LDS Ward Chapel. Burial, Wellington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Estella Johnson
ORANGEVILLE- Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Estella Thomas Johnson died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002 at home after a long and valiant battle with cancer at age 76 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 11, 1926 to Ivy Jensen and Luther Thomas. She married Leonard R. Johnson June 2, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was a member of the LDS Church, and held several positions at both ward and stake levels in Relief Society and Primary. She worked for Emery County Telephone Co. for many years before retiring.
She is survived by loving husband, Leonard, Orangeville; sons, Steven (Ingrid) Johnson, Germany; Michael (Sharon) Johnson, Salt Lake City; Phillip (Lisa) Johnson, Orangeville; daughters, Rebecca (Bevan) Killpack, St. George; Patricia (Glyn) Ussery, Orangeville; two sisters, Diane (Keith) Ware, Orangeville; Evelyn (R.L.) Benson, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Penny Thomas, Orangeville; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Afton; brothers, Max and Bud Thomas.
Funeral services will be Wed., Oct. 2, noon, at the Orangeville LDS Chapel. Friends may call Tues., Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial, Orangeville City cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Alex Markakis
PRICE- Alex N. Markakis, age 72, passed away Sept. 28, 2002, at his home, while surrounded by his family after an extended illness.
He was born March 3, 1930 in Heiner, to Nick and Irene Antonakis Markakis. Married Deloris Edmondson, Sept. 17, 1966 at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, Nev.
Member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1948 and later attended Carbon College. Served in the U.S. Air Force for four years while stationed in California and the Philippine Islands. Alex started working at a young age developing a life long work ethic. His hard work led him to establish Al’s Shoe Shine Shop, Price Taxi and Candy Store, Al’s Malt Shoppe, Price Vending Co. and Markakis Rentals. He never met a stranger and was known as “Big Al, Everybody’s Pal.” May his memory be eternal.
He is survived by wife, Deloris Markakis, Price; two daughters, Melissa (Casey) Hammack, Amy (Doug) Olson, both of Price; son, Matthew (Amy) Markakis, Fruita, Colo.; sister-in-law, Karla Edmondson, Price; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry (Wilma) Edmondson, Helper; two sisters and two brothers, Mary Piantes, Mike Markakis, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; Jay Markakis, Salt Lake City; Catherine (Karl) Haaser, Ogden; sister-in-law, Karyl Markakis, Las Vegas, Nev.; and granddaughter, Madison Long. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and a community of friends. He was preceded in death by parents; an infant brother; brother, Mitch Markakis; and brother-in-law, Gust Piantes.
Funeral service Wed., Oct. 2, 2 p.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Stanley Cadez
PRICE – Stanley Joseph Cadez, age 86, died Sept. 26, 2002.
He was born Aug.t 23, 1916 in Murray, to Joseph and Sophie Subic Cadez. Married Chelestina “Chel” Bergera, July 25, 1939 in Castle Dale. She died Aug. 13, 1997.
Stan grew up in Spring Canyon and Rains, and attended schools in Rains and Latuda. Stan worked in various coal mines in Carbon County and was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America District 22. He was also a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge 113. Stan was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and ice fishing. His retirement years were spent enjoying his family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by daughters, Sheryl Anne (Eugene) Sulpizio, Murphy, N.C.; Gloria Jean (Karl) Justesen, Salem; granddaughters, Stana Justesen, Kim (Chris) Dilldine, Valerie Sandquist, Alesa (Harold) Smith, Teresa (Jeremy) Armijo; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Aldene Thomas, Price. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother; sister, Sylvia Krajnc; and brother, Max Cadez.
Funeral service, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Price, Utah 84501.
