Pheasant Hunters Breakfast/Luncheon
The Lily of the Valley Elmo Camp of the D.U.P. is sponsoring a pheasant hunters breakfast and luncheon on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at 55 South 100 East in Elmo. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and lunch begins at 10 a.m. Drawing for a quilt and prizes.

Emery County Historical Society
The Emery County Historical Society will present featured speaker Stuart Williams, grandson of the first forest ranger on the Manti La-Sal, and entertainment by Diane Bott and KaeLynn Fox on Oct. 24 at the Museum of the San Rafael at 7 p.m.
Mood Disorders Clinic
The University of Utah Mood Disorders Clinic is seeking participants for one of the largest studies ever to study medications used to treat schizophrenia. Cleveland Elementary Halloween Carnival
Cleveland elementary PTO will hold its annual Halloween Carnival at the school on Oct. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. Dinner will be available and lots of games, including a spook alley, candy and prizes. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the school office starting Oct. 28, also at the door Halloween night. Four Corners Mental Health
Four Corners’ Emery County Office will host an open house Oct. 24 from 4-6 p.m.at the Castle Dale Clinic, 45 East 100 South to help celebrate their 30th birthday. There will be a recognition at 4:30 p.m. honoring people who have been instrumental in supporting behavioral health in Emery County.
League of Women Voters Announce Candidate Forum
Candidates for Utah’s Second Congressional District seat will participate in a Candidate Forum Oct. 26 hosted by AARP Utah, League of Women Voters, Salt Lake and the American Association of University Women, Utah. Ron Copier (L), Patrick Diehl (G), Jim Matheson (D), and John Swallow (R) will participate in the 7 p.m. forum at the Salt Lake County Government Center Council Chambers, Room N-1100, 2001 South State Street. State Senator Karl Swan (retired) will be the moderator.

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department Service Office, will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. Law Enforcement Training

Tri-Stake Fireside
An Emery Tri-stake Fireside will be held on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Castle Dale Stake Center. Ages 12 and up are welcome. Natalie Johnson, Miss Utah, of Bountiful and Barbara Burke, Miss Utah State Fair, from Ferron are the guest speakers and both will perform a musical number.
Domestic Violence Coalition Video Preview
The Emery County Domestic Violence Coalition will preview a video on Oct. 24. The video, titled “Hidden Victims: Children of Domestic Violence,” will be shown at noon at the Castle Dale Library. Deadline for Next ACT Test
College bound high school students who want to take the ACT Assessment have two chances to register before the Dec. 14 test date. The postmark registration deadline in Nov. 8 and the late registration postmark deadline is Nov. 21 To learn more about the ACT Assessment, including registration forms and test locations, contact your high school counselor or go to the ACT website www.act.org which also offers useful tips, sample tests and the opportunity to order inexpensive test prep materials.
Ten Free Trees
Ten free trees, autumn classics, will be given to each person who joins The National Arbor Day Foundation during Oct. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation’s Trees for America Campaign.

Last Chance to Choose
A 30 minute presentation titled “Last Chance to Choose” will be broadcast on Channel 26 each Wed. evening at 7 p.m. and Sat. at 10 a.m.until Nov. 2. This presentation will explain some of the reasons why a monument on the San Rafael Swell is being considered at this particular time.
Emery High Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
Emery High School P/T/S/ conferences will be Oct. 28 and 29 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Parents can pick up their students report card at the office before visiting teachers. There will be no school on Nov. 1.

Emery County Board of Commissioners
The Emery County Board of Commissioners will sponsor a monument informational meeting on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in the commission chambers. A presentation will be made by Rob Heille and Sally Wisely, BLM, on special management approaches and trends. The guest speakers will entertain questions after their presentation.
