Single Moms Conference


Central Utah 2002 Single Moms’ Conference in Ephraim on Dec. 14. The conference will begin in the Crane Theater at 7:30 a.m. Breakout sessions will last until 4 p.m. Registration forms available at USU Extension offices and the Department of Workforce Service. Emery County Recreation

AARP Utah Seeks Volunteers to Prepare Tax Returns


AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest, free, volunteer run tax counseling and prepartation service is seeking volunteers of all ages who want to learn tax law and prepare tax returns for taxpayers of low-to-moderate income, with special attention to those over 60. Fourth Annual Turkey Trot


Several area businesses are sponsoring the 4th annual Turkey Trot 5K and 1 mile runs on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 28. There will also be races for young children. At Huntington Elementary registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and races begin at 8:30 a.m. To pre-register, call 687-5533 or 687-2747. A Tree for the Festival of Trees


A group of Emery County ladies are decorating a tree for the Festival of the Trees to be held the first week of December which benefits the Primary Childrens Medical Center. The group, under the direction of Sara Grindley, are planning “Sister to Sister” a tree dedicated to Toni Oliverson, an Orangeville cancer survivor. Anyone interested in helping or supporting, please contact Sara at 748-2940.

Pheasant Hunters Breakfast


The Lily of the Valley Elmo Camp of the D.U.P. is sponsoring a pheasant hunters breakfast and luncheon on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at 55 South 100 East in Elmo. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and lunch begins at 10 a.m. Drawing for a quilt and prizes.

College bound high school students who want to take the ACT Assessment have two chances to register before the Dec. 14 test date. The postmark registration deadline is Nov. 8 and the late registration postmark deadline is Nov. 21
