David W. Sharp was named plant manager at PacifiCorp’s Huntington Canyon plant in September and has relocated to central Utah from Wyoming where he has lived for the past 26 years. His most recent assignment with the company was technical support manager at the Jim Bridger plant, near Rock Springs.
Sharp has worked in the electric power generation industry and related fields for nearly 30 years. He received a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from Washington State University and holds a professional engineer’s license. He also completed graduate level work at Portland State University in environmental science. The majority of Sharp’s work experience has been in the operations, maintenance and engineering of coal-fired generating stations. He came to work for PacifiCorp in 1976 when he joined the company’s headquarters staff in Portland, Ore. Other assignments with PacifiCorp include the Wyodak plant near Gillette, Wyo.; Jim Bridger plant near Rock Springs, Wyo.; and Naughton plant near Kemmerer, Wyo.
He enjoys fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. He also is an avid handball player and is hoping to find others in the area who play. When asked about his hobbies, he said that with all the relocations during his career his main hobbies have been landscaping yards and finishing basements at his residences.
Sharp is from Moses Lake, Wash., and is married to Pam, also of Moses Lake. He said his wife is excited to be living in a warmer climate so she can better utilize her skills as a master gardener. They have two sons. The oldest is a graduate of New Mexico State University and currently lives in Sun Valley, Idaho. The youngest is a student at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
