Jr. Jazz Sign Ups
Signs ups for grades 1 through twelve, girls and boys, Nov. 18 and 19. Huntington, Cleveland, Elmo and Lawrence sign up at Huntington Elementary from 5-7 p.m. Castle Dale, Orangeville, Ferron, Clawson, Moore and Emery sign up at the Emery County Recreation Building at the Castle Dale fairgrounds from 5-7 p.m. If anyone has jerseys that no longer fit their children and would like to donate them to this program we would appreciate your donations. HOT NEWS!
Attention all students: We at the Star Theatre would like to encourage reading as well as watching movies. Go to your local library and read ten books before Nov. 15, when the new Harry Potter movie hits theaters. Have the librarian sign off each book that you read and once you’ve read ten, you will receive a coupon for 50 cents off any fountain drink that you purchase from the Star Theatre when you come to see Harry Potter.
Emery County Historical Society
Monthly meeting will be held Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. Three artists will show their work: Gary Prazen, Danny Blanton and Joe Venus. Our guest speaker, Wilson Martin of the Utah Humanities Council, will speak on “Heritage Tourism”. The Huntington Men’s Glee Club will also be entertaining.
Christmas Tree Tags
Tags for the Ferron/Price Ranger District will be available for purchase on Nov. 25. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one tag per family. Tags will not be available by mail. D.R.O.P.S.
The D.R.O.P.S. truck will be in the parking lot of Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main, Huntington on Nov. 19. Sign-up begins at 11 a.m. Pick up for holiday boxes is Nov. 20-22.
Hunters Safety
Registration for the upcoming hunters safety classes will be Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. upstairs at Food Ranch. Class begins on Nov. 22. The shooting test will be Dec 7 at the sheriff’s range near the landfill. For more information call Steve at 748-2857 or Danny at 748-5163.
Riders for Santa
Motorcycles, 4 wheelers, vintage cars and trucks welcome or just drop off toys Nov. 23 at Stewarts in Castle Dale. Line up from 11 a.m.-noon. Parade starts at noon and will go to Orangeville. Dream House Photo Contest
Utah Preservation magazine’s annual photo contest is seeking images of Utah’s most charming, most elegant and most intriguing historic homes: The homes you have always wanted to own and live in–a dream house. Green River Fund Raiser
Amanda Clark of Green River has been selected to represent the United States at the Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Ireland in June of 2003. Fourth Annual Turkey Trot
Several area businesses are sponsoring the 4th annual Turkey Trot 5K and 1 mile runs on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 28. There will also be races for young children. Utah Arts Festival Seeks Composers
The Utah Arts Festival is accepting applications from Utah composers for the 12th annual orchestral Composer Commission. Those interested in applying for the 2003 Commission must submit a one-page biographical sheet, two bound copies of a score (preferably for full symphony orchestra) that represents the composer’s highest artistic accomplishments, and two quality recordings of the work. A Tree for the Festival
A group of Emery County ladies are decorating a tree for the Festival of the Trees to be held the first week of December which benefits the Primary Childrens Medical Center. The group, under the direction of Sara Grindley, are planning “Sister to Sister” a tree dedicated to Toni Oliverson, an Orangeville cancer survivor. Anyone interested in helping or supporting, please contact Sara at 748-2940.
U of U Mood Disorders Clinic
The University of Utah Mood Disorders Clinic is seeking participants for one of the largest studies ever to study medications used to treat schizophrenia.
