On Jan. 6, the elected officials for Emery County were sworn in at an official ceremony held at the courthouse at noon. Commissioner Drew Sitterud was the elected official who swore in the newly elected as well as the incumbents to their positions.
Commissioner Sitterud mentioned that at the time he was the only elected official in the building.
The officials lined up and raised their right hand and took the Oath of Office which is, “I do solemly swear that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Utah, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity.”

Those sworn in were: Gary Kofford as commissioner A, Ira W. Hatch, commisioner B, Bruce C. Funk, clerk/auditor, Kris Bell, assessor, Dixie Swasey, recorder, Lamar Guymon, sheriff, David Blackwell, county attorney, Betty Burns, judge and Stan Truman, judge.
A luncheon was held after the ceremony for the family and friends of the officials.
Sheriff Lamar Guymon has served as Emery County Sheriff for 28 years and is commencing his eighth term in office; which is one of the longest ever served by a sheriff in Utah.
