Utah Symphony and Opera at Emery County Schools


Apprentice Artists will be performing during the week of Feb.10-14. Ferron Elementary, Feb. 10, Huntington Elementary, Feb. 11, and Castle Dale Elementary, Feb. 13. Workshops will follow the performances at Ferron and Huntington Elementaries. On Feb. 12, the Apprentice Artists will perform at Emery High and at Canyon View Junior High on Feb. 14. The five day residency will culminate in a free public concert on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Emery High Auditorium.

WWII Veteran to Visit San Rafael Junior High


On Feb. 7, students, local veterans and the public will attend one of three assemblies to hear from Woody James, USS Indianapolis survivor tell his story. The ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific and the survivors spent five days in the ocean. A documentary will be shown at 8:20 a.m. in preparation for the assemblies.

Students and parents may receive a full color publication on how to receive academic funding by sending an email to NationalAcademicFunding@attbi.com and entering “Scholarship Information” in the subject line. Miss Emery County Scholarship Pageant


Miss Emery County Scholarship Pageant is now seeking girls, ages 17-24, interested in participating. Call Natalie Blackwell, 384-3184 or Sabrina Ungerman 687-2624 to sign up. Workshops begin March 1.

Huntington DUP


Huntington DUP will meet on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Huntington Senior Center for a special Valentine meeting.

Town Meeting


Four Corners Community Behavioral Health will be holding its annual town meeting on Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Castle Dale Senior Center. Information will be given regarding services provided to the community by the center, a chance to meet the staff and a chance to provide input of concerns and suggestions to make the services better.

BYU Ballroom Dance Company


College of Eastern Utah Ballet Repertory Ensemble and Athletic Department presents BYU Ballroom Dance Company on Feb. 8. This performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the BDAC. For tickets call, 435-613-5369 on Feb. 3-7 between noon-2 p.m. For more information call 435-613-5356.

Veterans, Widows and Dependents


A Field Service Officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dept. Service Office will be in the area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of VFW to qualify for assistance. Price Workforce Service Center, Feb. 20 from 8:30-10 a.m.

Cleveland Dog Licenses


A reminder to Cleveland residents that they are required to license their dogs by Feb. 28. All dogs must have proof of current rabies shots to be licensed. Dog owners failing to comply will be charged a late fee in addition to licensing fees. The town will sponsor one rabies clinic on Feb. 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cleveland cemetery storage building, 200 North 600 East. Dr Jensen will be the vet.

Annual Arbor Day Poster Contest


The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands announce the annual Arbor Day poster contest open to all elementary schools throughout the state. Winners will be recognized from four regions. Schools may use the prize money any way they wish. Winning students receive U.S. Savings Bonds and framed certificates. Registration deadline is Feb. 7th. Teachers and schools not receiving registration materials in the mail, or desiring more information, should contact the Utah Arbor Day Committee at the division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands in Salt Lake City, (801) 538-5555.

PTAs Reflections Awards Program


The program will honor our Emery and Carbon students for their Artistic Creations. Both council and regional finalists will receive their awards this night. Museum of the San Rafael. Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.

Annual Republican Lincoln Day Dinner


The annual republican Lincoln Day dinner will be held Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Ferron Senior Citizens Center. Tickets should be purchased from your local republican precinct chairman or vice chairman, republican county elected officials, county commissioners, or call Tony Condor 384-2470, Connie Gilbert 687-9261 or Elaine Hatch 687-2229. Tickets will be more if purchased at the door.

Huntington City Dog Licenses


Huntington City 2003 dog licences are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on the following dates: Feb.1, 9a.m-noon.(Glen Jensen DVM) and Feb. 22, 9a.m.- noon.(Brent Griggs DVM).

Religious Poems Sought

Scholarship Deadlines


University of Utah, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College and Weber State Universities have scholarship application deadlines of Feb. 1. Brigham Young University and BYU Idaho have Feb. 15 deadlines.
