LDS Music Composition Contest
Jackman Music Corporation is sponsoring a music composition contest. Submissions should be original choral pieces centering on one of two themes: Missionary Work: Dedication In the Lord’s Service or Missionary Work: Raising the Bar. Submissions should be written in SAB format and have a level of difficulty accessible to ward choir type groups. Winning entries will be awarded royalty contracts and published. Genealogy Conference at BYU
Genealogy experts and beginners can observe the latest in technology during the sixth annual Computerized Genealogy Conference Mar. 13-14 at Brigham Young University. Workshops, speakers and vendors will provide updated information and training on genealogical software programs, computer databases, email and the internet. They will also review existing programs and evaluate new programs. Hands on labs will be offered in the evenings on Mar 13-14 and on Mar. 15 for an additional cost. Prayer Paths

Defensive Driving Classes
The Utah Safety Council is now offering a 4-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on March 22 at the College of Eastern Utah from 8 a.m.-Noon. Financial Fitness
A financial fitness course will be offered by Utah State University Extension beginning March 12 and held every Wednesday evening till April 16. There is a fee for the course. To pre-register or for more information call 381-2381.

CEU Scholarship Deadline
College of Eastern Utah Alumni Association announces that there are two tuition scholarships available through the Alumni Association for the 2003-04 school year. These scholarships are made possible through proceeds from the CEU Alumni Wildman Golf Tournament held last fall. Applications and informational brochures are available at the counselors office at Emery High. The application deadline is April 1.
Camp Dale DUP
The Camp Dale Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their monthly meeting on Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Castle Dale Senior Citizens Center.
Jr. Jazz Elections
Elections for Jr. Jazz presidency will be held March 8 at Cottonwood Elementary at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in helping with Jr. Jazz next year, please attend.
Babe Ruth Baseball
There will be an organizational meeting and board elections for Babe Ruth Baseball on March 10 at 6 p.m. in the Rec. building in Castle Dale.
Veterans Affairs Office Re-vamps

Days of ’47 Pageant
The Emery Company and County Camps of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers are looking for young women that are eligible to compete in the Days of ’47 Queen Pageant. You must be at least 18 years of age and have pioneer ancestors that came to Utah before 1869. If anyone is interested please contact Karen Huntsman at 381-5445 or any of the captains of the Emery County camps for further details.
Mesquite Senior Games
If you are 45 years old or older and love to compete in sports activities, the Mesquite Senior Games are for you. The games will be held April 28-May 4 and present twelve sports for competition, basketball, tennis, golf, softball, bowling, fun walk, sporting clays, archery, horseshoes and track and field. Children First Utah is an organization that provides children of low-income families with partial scholarships for attending the school of choice. Steve James to Perform with Elementary Kids
The Castle Dale, Ferron and Cottonwood Elementary students will be performing with Steve James on Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. at Emery High School. The Huntington and Cleveland Elementary students will perform at Huntington Elementary on Mar. 5 at 7 p.m. This is a concert you won’t want to miss.

Know Before You Go ATV Safety Class
Utah ATV Safety certificate classes for youth ages 8-16 who operate ATVs or motorcycles. This certification makes your child legal to drive on public lands and trails. Forest Service Announces Grant Opportunities
The US Forest Service’s State and Private Forestry Office and Utah State Forester announced that communities may begin applying for 2003 Rural Community Assistance and National Fire Plan Economic Action Program grants. Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp
Applications are being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10 through 19 are eligible to apply. Olympic Exhibit in Salt Lake
To mark the first anniversary of the Winter Games in Salt Lake, the Utah State Historical Society will exhibit objects and historical materials collected for the Society’s Olympic Legacy Collection. The exhibit will be held at the Rio Grande Depot on 300 South Rio Grande Street, Salt Lake City.
