Veloy Bradley Sorenson
SUNNYSIDE-Veloy Bradley Sorenson, age 77, passed away April 3, 2003 at the home he loved. He was born Oct. 2, 1925 in Moroni to John Odell and Christiana Bradley Sorenson. He married Janet Monson May 19, 1943 in Nephi, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She passed away July 10, 1993. He later married Amy Bishop Sept. 2, 1995 in Cleveland.
As an active member of the LDS Church he served as bishop in the Sunnyside Ward and for six years he worked as an ordinance worker at the Manti LDS Temple, which he dearly loved.
He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, pitching horseshoes and spent many happy hours with his family while camping, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his dear wife Amy and children Kathy and Grant Bean of East Carbon and Ray and Anna Lee Sorenson of Price, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, stepdaughters, Judi Bishop of Cleveland and Gwen Allen of West Valley, five step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved. Also survived by his brother John A. Sorenson of American Fork. Preceded in death by one granddaughter DelRay Bean, one sister and one brother and stepson Bill Bishop.
Funeral services were held April 7 in East Carbon. Interment was in the Moroni Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Rhonda Bogdin
CARBONVILLE – Rhonda Mae Cowan Bentley Bogdin, age 52, passed away April 6, 2003 at her home.
She was born April 20, 1950 in Price, to Byrnell “Konky” and Ramona “Mona” Reaveley Cowan. Married Charles “Chuck” Bentley Aug. 17, 1968 in Hiawatha, later divorced. Married Leland “Lee” Bogdin Feb. 15, 1991 in Price.
Rhonda was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where she graduated from Carbon High School and the College of Eastern Utah Nursing Program. She was a former employee of the Carbon County Ambulance for 18 years and Chief Flight Nurse with Med Arrow. Rhonda enjoyed her work and she was presently employed at Castleview Hospital as house supervisor. She enjoyed reading, caring for her family and friends, and most of all she loved being “Grammy” to her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by husband, Lee Bogdin, Carbonville; son, Justin Bentley and Melany, Price; daughter Heather Marrelli, Carbonville; brother, Jerel Cowan, Ogden; daughter, Teddi Montgomery, West Valley; son, Ronnie (Shelley) Bogdin, Price; daughter, LeAnna (Robert) Sanderson, Riverton; “Grammy’s Grandchildren”, Tannin, Kaylab, Brielle, Brenna, London, Brandy, Jerykka and Daryann; special sister, Cathy Bonomo, M.D., St. George; and many dear friends and co-workers who will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by parents.
Funeral service Thursday, April 10, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
George Marinos
HELPER – George Marinos, age 89, passed away April 1, 2003 in Price.
He was born July 27, 1913 in Grass Creek, to Gust and Sarah Craig Marinos. Married Yvonne Allred March 14, 1969.
Member of the LDS Church. Former employee in the coal industry in Carbon County for many years, retired from North American Coal in Castle Gate. Retired member UMWA Local 1681. He enjoyed the outdoors spending time camping and gardening. He especially like to hunt and fish.
Survived by wife, Yvonne Marinos; two sons and one daughter, Saralyn Montoya, Central City; Jack (Becky) Marinos, Helper; Tom (Laurel) Marinos, Price; two sisters, Jeanne (Bob) Berry, Denver, Colo.; Elsie Perrero, Helper; grandchildren, Denise, Chris, Ursula, Gus, Joey, Rosalyn, Laurie and Sharon; five great-grandchildren; nephews, Pete (Markay) Perrero, Tucson, Ariz.; Michael (Sue) Perrero, Salt Lake; and niece, Cindy Berry Lineen. Preceded in death by parents; and daughter, Georgette Hamilton.

Bernice Brown
SALT LAKE CITY – Bernice Pulli Brown passed away April 2, 2003.
Bernice was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Peter and Louise Pulli, the fourth daughter of eight children.
Bernice was a 49 year member of Naomi Chapter No. 14, Order of Eastern Star in Price, and an evening chief operator for Mountain States Telephone in Price. She retired in December 1983 in Salt Lake City. She was a loving companion and an avid golfer.
