The Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife held their annual fundraiser banquet on March 29 at the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center on the College of Eastern Utah campus. More than 500 people turned out to support the future of fish and wildlife in Utah during an evening of comraderie, dinner and prizes.
James Gilson, president of the SFW for Carbon and Emery counties introduced Congressman Jim Matheson who spoke to the assembled crowd giving his support to the group for their efforts and accomplishments for fish and wildlife. The SFW showed a video of its endeavors in Utah throughout the past year. Numerous photos of hunters who had bagged their big game trophies were shown in the video.
The big winners from Emery County for the evening were the Hurdsmans, beginning with Darrin who drew out the bull elk permit and again on the antelope permit. His dad, Mike won the Arctic Cat 400 4-wheeler that was given away.
Don McNaulty was the auctioneer for the evening. Holly Gilson from the SFW acted as secretary and clerk for the auction which raised the funds to carry on the work of the SFW for the upcoming year.
The SFW board appreciates all the support and attendance and considered the evening a big success.
