Emery and Carbon counties were well represented at this years Utah State Junior Livestock Show. It was held May 1-3 in Spanish Fork. This livestock show is one of the largest state sponsored shows in Utah.
Showing in the lamb division were Ty Wells and Lyn Wells of Wellington; Davie Stokes, Allie Stokes and Lexie Stokes, all of Cleveland. All of these exhibitors received blue ribbons for their animals. Davie Stokes placed in the Star Class with her lamb.
Ty Wells received top honors at this years show, having the Grand Champion Market Lamb.
In the market hog division this year there were over 238 hogs being shown. Showing in this division were Sarah H. Jensen, Keven Andrew Jensen, Jesse W. Jensen and Jade Jensen, all of Cleveland; Kimberly Kay, Ashley Sitterud and Colton Fillmore, all of Lawrence; Daren Worwood, Kaden Worwood and Dane Worwood, all of Ferron. All of these exhibitors received blue ribbons for their animals.
Sarah Jensen and Kaden Worwood placed in the Star Class with their animals. Dane Worwood won Reserve Champion Market hog and Kimberly Kay received the top honor, having the Grand Champion Market hog.
These youth travel to several other livestock shows in the state during the course of the summer. When asked what they enjoyed most about showing away from home, the answer most often received was, “We love meeting new people and making new friends. We can’t wait until the next show to catch up on what they’ve been doing since we talked to them the last time!”
These young exhibitors appreciate all that their parents, family and friends that provide support that makes these experiences possible for them.
