Delma Dougherty
HELPER-Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and dear neighbor, Delma Zorn Dougherty, age 82, passed away June 10, 2003 at her home. She was born July 8, 1920 in Soldier Summit, to George and Mary Fennel Zorn. Married Fred H. Dougherty, Nov. 18, 1942 in Price. He died Jan. 29, 1980.
Delma was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a member of the Merry-Mix-Up’s. Delma enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard and she especially loved watching her grandsons’ baseball games. Delma was a kind and loving person who dearly loved helping and caring for others. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by her son, Patrick (Annette) Dougherty, Spring Glen; grandsons, Travis and Preston Wilson: brother, Delbert Zorn, Green River, Wyo.; three sisters, Edith (Lynn) Nielson, Blackfoot, Idaho; Irene Perri, Spring Glen; Doris Rae (Luke) Pappas, San Bernardino, Calif.; special nephew, Rory Cripps, Spring Glen. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ed, Cecil and Clyde Zorn.
Funeral Mass Sat. June 14 at 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Friday evening 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

James Lewis Petersen
ST. GEORGE/FERRON Loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, died June 16, 2003 in St. George, surrounded by those whom he loved and who loved him. He was born April 3, 1951 in Price, the son of Darrel V. and Edna J. Petersen. Jim was raised by a loving extended family, and after serving a mission and preparing to enter pharmacy school, he married Kathleen Breedlove on Aug. 15, 1974 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Jim was the salutatorian of Emery County High School in 1969 and graduated from the University of Utah School of Pharmacy, magna cum laude in 1976. Following graduation, he returned to his beloved Ferron to work with his father in the drug store where he served for 23 years. He loved working with and knowing everyone in Ferron. In addition to pharmacist, Jim also served as a volunteer fireman and as supervisor of ambulance services and as an EMT for his time in Ferron.
In 1999, he closed his pharmacy and became the manager of the Price Albertson’s pharmacy. In 2001, Jim and Kathy moved to St. George, to live near family members who needed them. Jim worked as a pharmacy manager for Lin’s Marketplace.
Jim’s love was his family. He loved to spend time with them and arranged many joy-filled family vacations. The highlight of every summer was our Lake Powell trips where he found joy in dragging his children around the lake on wake boards. He also enjoyed his EMT and fire service and working in the garden.
Jim was an active member of the Green Valley 14th Ward where he currently served as Gospel Doctrine teacher, High Priest, and faithful home teacher. Previously he had served a mission in San Paulo, Brazil, and as ward executive secretary and ward clerk. He loved serving in the church and took his responsibilities very seriously.
His wife, Kathy, his children, James Brett of Orem, Jami Clair and Alexis Ollie of St. George, his sister Karen Thomas of Ferron and many extended family members who he loved dearly, survives Jim. His parents Darrel and Edna Petersen preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Thur., June 19, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the Ferron Stake Center in Ferron. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ferron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that anyone wishing to send condolences make a donation in Jim’s name to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund. Vivian Sietz
EAST CARBON CITY-Vivian Marie Darr Seitz, age 82 passed away June 16, 2003. Born March 13, 1921 in Trenton, Mo. to George and Edith Criswell Darr. Married Robert (Bob) Louis Seitz March 13, 1940 in Moberly, Mo. He died Feb. 18, 1996.
Vivian worked for Miners Trading Post in Sunnyside. She enjoyed bowling and took an active part on the leagues at the Sunny Bowl for many years. She was a gifted quilter and took pride in making quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. During her illness she missed being able to quilt with her friends at the United Methodist Church in Price.
Survived by her three children, Richard (Shanna) Seitz, Salem, Betty (Steven) Moffitt, Fresno, Calif. and Helen Hennefer, Sunnyside; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Lester, Culver City, Calif., Buford, Clearfield, Frank, Laredo, Mo. and Hallie Rhodes, Brookfield, Mo.; many nieces and nephews, one special to Vivian is Mary (Nick) Martinez, East Carbon City; special friends, Angela Sanchez and Carole Atton.
The children would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice, Castle Country Care Center, Dr. Etzel, Dr. Craner, Dr. Biesinger for the care given to our Mother, and Pastor Nancy Boswell for her loving support during this time.
Funeral service Thurs. June 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Price. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment Price City Cemetery.
Donald Verdell Cox
PRICE-On Sept. 8,1933, Donald Verdell Cox was born in Clawson, to Arthur Ludene and Theo Cox. He returned to their awaiting arms on June 15, 2003. He died peacefully at home after a long illness.
He married Diana Jewkes on Oct. 14, 1953 in Orangeville. Together the couple had four children, one of whom, Barry, preceded him in death. He will always be remembered by those who survive him. His wife Diana, daughter Donette ( Dean) Marchello, Spring Glen, son Dean Cox, Murray, and daughter Dana (Doug) Hussey, South Jordan. Brothers Arthur Cox and Merrill Cox, four grandson’s, Michael Marchello, Trent Marchello, Austin Hussey, and Adam Hussey. Two granddaughters, Amber Marchello and Rylee Hussey. Many nieces, nephews, and friends, and his constant canine companion Jake.
Don was employed by Cate Carbon Equipment, where he was the manager, until his retirement in 1995. He loved fishing, camping, gardening , and just tinkering. He especially loved old clocks and had many of them in his home.
More than anything we will miss Don’s sense of humor and quick wit, his ability to tell a good story, his silly made up songs, and his funny sayings.
Services will be at the Price 8th Ward LDS Church, 995 East 700 North at Noon, Thurs. June 19 ,2003. Friends may call one hour prior. In addition, there will be a viewing at Fausett Mortuary 680 East 100 South Wed. June 18 from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be at the Cliffview Cemetery in Price.
Laura Vetere
WEST VALLEY/PRICE-Our devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Laura Bonello Vetere, age 82, passed away June 14, 2003 at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. Born Feb. 26, 1921 in Price to Frank (Francesco) Bonello and Mary (Maria) Spadafora.
Married Louis (Louie) Vetere, Dec. 6, 1941 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. He died Dec. 28, 2002.
Former member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where she was the parish choir director for many years. While residing in Price, Louis and Laura owned and operated Vetere Motors and Melody Motor Mobile Home prior to their retirement in 1978. In 1979, they moved to Lake Havasu, Ariz. where she was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, the Catholic Women’s Society and also served as chairman of the Diocesan Development Drive for many years.
In 1998 they moved to the Salt Lake area, where she was a devoted member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Laura was an excellent cook and she especially enjoyed sharing her cooking with everyone from the family. Mom, we know you will always be there looking over us and helping us to do the right thing. We love you and thank you for all you have done for us.
Survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Thomas) Judd, son, Michael Vetere, both of Salt Lake City; granddaughter Marra Vetere; grandson, John T. Judd; great-grandson, Thomas B. Judd; sisters-in-law, Arlene Bonello, Price, Ida Ryan, Valencia, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Frank (Mary Ellen) Vetere, John (Bonnie) Vetere, Jay (Jackie) Vetere, all of Green River; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Mario Bonello; sister, Anna B. Saccomano.

Vivian Grace Jewkes
PRICE-Vivian Grace Jewkes, age 79 passed away June 16, 2003 in Price. She was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Spring Glen to William Brindley and Elizabeth Sellers Haycock. She married Bryant Terry Jewkes on Jan. 11, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple.
As an active member of the LDS Church she served in numerous callings. Her hands were never idle, always crocheting and making things for her family. She made the best bread in the world. She loved dancing and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband Bryant of Price and children: Terry Roy and Terry Lynn Jewkes of Wellington, Vivian Kaye Jewkes of Salt Lake City, Brian and Carol Jewkes and Scott and Anne Lise Jewkes, all of Orangeville, and Cindy and Jim Cloward of Wellington, 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter Marilyn Jewkes. Vivian was the last of 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Fri. June 20, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Price Sixth Ward chapel, located at 300 West and 500 South in Price. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery.
