Emery County youth participated in two separate basketball camps at the Emery High Spartan Center. The girls camp was hosted by Duane Merrell, girls basketball coach at Emery High. The Dixie College girls coach, Dexter Irvin came to teach at the girls camp. He taught ball handling skills to the girls and concentrated on shooting the ball correctly. Irvin has taken his Dixie team to the Nationals the past two years and came to the Emery camp last year also.
The boys basketball camp was under the direction of Emery High boys basketball coach Todd Jeffs with help from members of the boys basketball team. The boys participated in ball handling drills and 3 on 3 competitions and practiced their basketball skills.
