Wayne W. Wipf Concert


Country Gospel music artist Wayne W. Wipf, along with humorist “Mizz Molly Blue” will provide a free concert, (donations accepted) at the Emery County Recreation Center on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Castle Dale Independent Baptist Church, Pastor Sam Wilbanks, 384-3121; Associate Pastor Baf Toomer, 384-3378; and the Desert Edge Christian Chapel. Recreation Center Open Night


Open nights at the Emery County Recreation Center will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10 p.m. Open night will begin Sept. 2, 2003. There will be basketball, fooseball, table tennis, darts, board games, etc. For more information, please call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

Youth Football Registration


Registration for Emery County Youth Football will be held Aug. 25-26, from 5-7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Participants will receive their uniforms at the time of registration. For more information, please contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

Annual Poetry


Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Castle Valley Ranch, local poets and guest poet Sam Deloux will share their work with guests. Bring lawn chairs and jackets. There will be Dutch oven dessert. Call Jo Ann Behling for more information, directions or to participate at 384-2666.

Statewide Wilderness Legislation


The Emery County Board of Commissioners is seeking your input. The Utah Associations of Counties is proposing to draft statewide wilderness legislation. Should Emery County actively join in the dialogue? Let your opinions/concerns be known at one or more of the following public hearings: Sept. 2, 7 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael; Sept. 4, 7 p.m. at Cleveland Town Hall; Sept. 5, 7 p.m. at Green River City Hall; Sept. 9, 7 p.m. at Orangeville City Hall; Sept. 10, 7 p.m. at Ferron City Hall; Sept. 11, 7 p.m. at Huntington City Hall.

Emery County Historical Society


The Emery County Historical Society will host it’s annual Cowboy Poetry evening. It will be held Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Castle Valley Outfitters in Moore. Attendees are encouraged to bring jackets and lawn chairs and come prepared for an evening of local cowboy poets.

Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the VFW will be in your area to assist you in understanding an applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This officer will be in the Price Workforce Service Center from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Aug. 21.

AWANA


AWANA club for children ages three through sixth grade will begin Sept. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main in Huntington. There will be Bible lessons, games, treats and fun.

Country Gospel Music


On Aug. 27, Wayne Wipf, will perform country gospel music and entertainment at the Emery County Recreation Building. The program will begin at 7 p.m.

Volunteers Needed


Emery County Care and Rehab is currently looking for volunteers to perform for one hour per month, providing musical entertainment for the residents. Any instrument is welcome. Any single person or group is welcome. Any age. Please call Tracy at 384-2301.

Food Handlers Workshop


The Southeastern Utah District Health Department will be conducting two Food Handler’s Workshops on Aug. 21 at the Health Department in Castle Dale, 25 West Main Street. They will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Permits are required for everyone engaging in the manufacturing, preparation or handling of food or drink, or employed in or around food in a restaurant, hotel, bar, grocery store, milk or other food establishment.
You must attend one program and pass a written exam. There is a fee for the class. For more information contact Terri at 381-2252 or Dr. Claron D. Bjork at 637-3671.

Castle Dale Pool Fall Hours


Beginning Aug. 18, the pool will have the following hours, Aquasize: Mon. – Fri. 8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.; Open Swim: Mon. 4-7 p.m. and Sat. 12-7 p.m.; Family Night: Mon. 7-9 p.m. The will still be open for rentals, scout groups, etc. Please call 381-5298 if you wish to reserve the pool.

D.R.O.P.S.


DROPS has a new location, Castle Dale Fairgrounds, 500 East 100 South. Sign ups begin at 11 a.m. on Aug. 26. Do not block any driveways. First come, first served.

Joe’s Valley Boat Ramp


The boat ramp at Joe’s Valley will be closed on due to muddy conditions brought about by the low water.
