Arlene Callahan, standing front, directs the Golden Oldies band at one of their many performances throughout the county. They perform at schools and resthomes and also ride in parades that are held each summer. The band traditionally performs a lot around the holidays as they spread cheer in the two county area.

The Emery County senior citizens band recently attended a meeting in the Huntington Senior Citizens Center. The meeting was called by Maughn Guymon, director of senior citizen programs. The purpose was two fold. First to pay tribute to Arlene Callahan for her dedication and service as the band’s director. The second purpose was to reorganize the band as Callahan retired as the band director. Callahan has been very active as a member and director.
Callahan was presented with a plaque in appreciation for her many years of service.
New officers were elected as follows: Flora Kenworthy, president; Phyllis (Dot) Allred, vice president and director; and Iris Henderson, secretary.
These newly elected officers are encouraging all of the county’s senior citizens to join the band and help to bring happiness and service to others and your own enjoyment.
