Florence Anderson
EMERY-Florence Johannah Abelin Anderson, age 94, returned to her Heavenly Father Aug. 31, 2003 in Ferron. She was born April 19, 1909 in Emery to Arthur Magnus and Mary Sophia Neilson Abelin. She married Clinton C. Anderson Jan. 26, 1927 in the Manti LDS Temple and were together for 62 wonderful years until his passing.
She was a faithful member of the LDS church where she served in numerous callings. She loved the Lord and she loved her family. She loved the outdoors, working in her yard and camping with her family.
Florence is survived by two sons: Preston C. Anderson of Emery and Maurice and Christina Anderson of Carbondale, Colo.; daughter Rene’ and Arthur “Leif” Erickson of Emery and one sister Doraleen Gates of Salina; 39 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild. Preceded in death by her husband, two sons Bruce and Keith, one grandson, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Sept. 4. Burial was in the Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Fabian ‘Fame’ Price
EAST CARBON CITY – Fabian “Fame” Price, age 94, died Aug. 31, 2003 in Ferron.
Fame was born April 22, 1909 to William Henry and Lydia Jane Metcalf Price in Ferron. He married Tressie Ellen Curtis April 28, 1930, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Fame enjoyed gardening, reading, playing guitar, riding his horse Rebel, fishing, hunting, prospecting, trapping, story-telling, spending time with his children and grandchildren and camping with his wife, Tressie. He loved and helped raise his niece, Lila Price Thonopen, and a special granddaughter, Debra VaLynn Miller-Eatough Keller.
Fame worked for the U.S. Forest Service, many construction companies, and retired from Kaiser Steel as a heavy equipment operator.
Fame helped break ground for the town of Dragerton. He was a member of the LDS Church.
Fame was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tressie; five sisters, three brothers; an infant son; two sons-in-law; an infant grandchild and three infant great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Owen, Danny and Allan Price; a sister, Dora Price Fautin; sons, Darrel and Louise Price, Clawson; Bud and Maria Price, St. George; Vern “Johnny” and Nancy Binder, Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Ellen Larue Jensen Remington, West Valley City; Betty Jean and Keith Eatough, Elko, Nev.; 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was Sept. 5, in the Castle Dale Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Harold A. Nelson
PRICE-Harold Andrew Nelson, age 80, passed away Sept. 4, 2003 in Price. He was born Dec. 19, 1922 in Rochester to Stanley Christian and Florence Cary Nelson. Married Helen Virginia Lee, Aug. 1, 1943 in Bend, Ore.
He was a longtime resident of Emery and Carbon counties where he graduated from Carbon High School in 1941. Served in the US Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Graduate of Carbon College, where he played on the championship football team in 1947. In 1982 Harold retired from Utah Power & Light Carbon Plant.
Harold was active in Kiwanis and he enjoyed coaching the Price Kiwanis Little League and the Carbon Plant softball teams. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and he also enjoyed farming and gardening.
Survived by his wife, Helen Nelson, Price; two sons and two daughters, Gary (Gaylene) Nelson, Helper; Lee (Mary) Nelson, Salt Lake City; DeLynne Nelson, Price; Colleen (Stan) Pestotnik, Salt Lake City; brother, Stanley E. “Ted” Nelson, Salt Lake City; sister, Cary Ellen Davis, Huntsville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.
Pearl Barton
CASTLE DALE-Stena Pearl Bott Barton, born Oct. 18, 1915 in Castle Dale to Carl Christian and Mette Kjristena Petersen Bott. She passed away Sept. 2, 2003 at Castleview Hospital in Price. She graduated from Central High School in 1933 and has been a lifelong resident of Castle Dale. She taught music for many years and had hundreds of students each of them becoming just as though they were one of her own. Many will still remember her telling them to “practice every day.” She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Castle Dale Second ward. She held many callings including serving a mission in the Northwestern States Mission. She has also been a member of the Castle Dale Senior Citizens including the RSVP Program, and a friend of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She married Warren Edson Barton in the Manti Temple. Together they served a temple mission at the Manti Temple for many years.
She is survived by her children: Warren Karl (Marcia) Barton, Stena Carol (Robert) Riding, Quinn Bott (Gayle) Barton, and son-in-law Randy Kim (Jill) Grover. She was extremely proud and loved her 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Grandma Great.” She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, husband and daughter Barbara Pearl Grover.
Funeral services were held at the Castle Dale Stake Center on Sept. 5. Interment in the Castle Dale City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Wilma R. Aberneathy
TABER, Alberta – Wilma R. Marshall Aberneathy, devoted wife of Buryl T. Aberneathy, passed away peacefully Aug. 28, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Her last weeks were spent in the loving care of her husband, Buryl; her daughter, Ellen Conrad; and the generous staff at the Taber Active Care and Continuing Care Hospital.
Wilma was born Jan. 9, 1917 in Huntington, the 10th of 15 children born to John W. and Martha E. Marshall. When Wilma was 8 years old, her father was killed in a mining accident. She was also preceded in death by her mother and 12 of 15 brothers and sisters.
Wilma and Buryl were married April 8, 1939 in Palo Alto, Calif. A few years later, they moved to Canada. From 1942-1986, Wilma and Buryl lived in Ottawa, Ontario, where she leaves behind many wonderful friends and acquaintances. In 1986, they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she established great ties within her community. In 1997, Wilma and Buryl, moved to Taber to be closer to their daughter and her family. In March 2003, she moved to the Taber Continuing Care Hospital and enjoyed being closer to her husband, Buryl.
In April 2003, Wilma and Buryl Aberneathy celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. As active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they served two missions at the temple in Washington, D.C.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Ellen May Aberneathy Conrad, and son-in-law, John Conrad. She will be greatly missed by her four loving grandchildren, Paul (Natalie) Conrad, Christine (Kevin) Paquette, Caleb Conrad and Elizabeth Conrad. Her great-grandchildren, who were honored to know her are Thomas Paquette, Bethany Conrad, Jay Paquette, Luke Paquette, Savannah Conrad and Kathryn Conrad. She also leaves behind her sisters, Leah Jones and Neva Lake of Utah; three sisters-in-law, Lila, Beverly and Reva; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Sept. 2, at the LDS Chapel in Taber. Interment, Taber Cemetery under the direction of Christensen Salmon Funeral Home.

Merene Redd Humphrey
ORANGEVILLE-Our beloved Merene Redd Humphrey, 91, passed away Sept. 2, 2003 in Ferron. She was born April 15, 1912 in Grayson (Blanding) to Parley and Ruth Hurst Redd. She married Wilford Mark Humphrey in the Manti Temple on June 20, 1945. He passed away Dec. 30, 1991.
Merene enjoyed netting, visiting with people, teaching students homemaking skills, and canning. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many positions. She held various positions in the American Legion Auxiliary, Clique Club, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Merene also served two missions for the LDS Church.
She is survived by her children: Lorraine (Jay) Frandsen of Castle Dale; Jewelle Roberts of Salt Lake City; Kristine (Dwayne) Story, Jay Mark (Joy Lynn) Humphrey, both of Orangeville; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; She is also survived by a sister Jacqueline Wilson of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Dale (Maurine) Redd of Ogden and Kent Redd of Blanding. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant son, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 in the Orangeville Ward Chapel. Interment in the Orangeville Cemetery.
Glenna Patricia ‘Pat’ Huntington
ORANGEVILLE – Glenna Patricia “Pat” Huntington, age 56, passed away peacefully Aug. 29, 2003 at her home in Orangeville, leaving her burdens behind.
She was born June 17, 1946 in Price to Owen D. and Glenna A. Cox Price. She married Wick F. Huntington in Orangeville, later divorced.
She obtained her LPN certification and worked for a short time at the Ferron Nursing Home.
She enjoyed music, crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa and Richard Scheaffer, Providence; Melanie and Lance Robinson, Afton, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Olivia and Isabella Scheaffer; Randi, Sydney and Kaden Robinson; brother, David Price; and sisters, Kathy Ockey and Connie Wickman. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Graveside services were held Sept. 3, at the Ferron Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
