Sandy Senor


PRICE – Sanford C. Senor, age 69, passed away Jan. 5, 2004 in a Provo hospital.
Born May 24, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Jerome J. and Margaret K. Deutchslander Senor. Married Jean Moore, later divorced. Married Nikki Nikas August 1977 in Price.
Member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price where he served as treasurer. Retired from the U.S. military with 15 years of service in the Navy and five years in the U.S. Army. Sandy was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal. Member of the V.F.W. Miners Post 2379, Price, where he served a quartermaster. Sandy was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he retired from First Interstate Bank. He was a past member of the Kiwanis and Price Elks Lodge 1550.
Sandy dedicated the last seven years as a caregiver to his loving wife, Nikki. As a constant caregiver and a staunch supporter of the Active Re-Entry Caregiver’s Support Group, Sandy shared his support and talents in many articles, caregiver magazines and to people all over the world.
Sandy and his wife enjoyed representing Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for many of the children and adults in the Carbon County area. Sandy will be dearly missed by all. “May his memory be eternal.”
Survived by loving wife, Nikki Senor, Price; son, David J. (Cindy) Senor, Stonington, Conn.; daughter, Laurie A. (Ian) McGee, Orlando, Fla.; sister, Judy (John) Schoger, Lakewood, Ohio; daughter, Antoinette “Toni” (Robert) Mermer, Fresno, Calif.; son, Craig (Peggy) Hobi, Farmingdale, N.Y.; son, Brent (Marie) Hobi, Price; daughter, Renee Hobi, San Diego, Calif.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Robert Senor.
Funeral service Thursday, Jan. 8, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service, Wednesday, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church or the American Cancer Society.

Ann Liapis


HELPER – Ann Papazaharis Liapis, “YiaYia”, loving mother, grandmother, devoted friend and “everybody’s YiaYia”, died peacefully Jan. 7, 2004 from cancer.
Born Aug. 27, 1920 in Bingham, to Gust and Anastasia Vouros Papazaharis. Ann married Harry Paul Liapis Aug. 1, 1943.
Ann was a dedicated lifelong member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. She graciously served as both a president and member of the Philoptochos Society, and an officer and member of the Ladies of the Nile. She was also a member of the Sassy Ladies and the Price Ladies of Elks. Each year Ann served as co-treasurer of the Price Greek Festival. Ann and Harry enjoyed dancing, traveling and spending time with loved ones. She is remembered by many throughout her life including friends at Cornets, Burt’s Shoe Store and Walker Bank.
Survived by sons, Paul (Judy), Salt Lake City; Gus (Sharon), Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrea (Stephen) Jackson, Philip, Scott, Stephanie and Zachary; nephew, Steve Papazaharis; and is dearly remembered by all those who loved her in the Liapis, Kay, Maxfield and Platis families. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry, Jan. 12, 1988; parents; sisters, Charlene and Eva; and brother, Steve.
A special thanks to the CareSource Hospice Center of Salt Lake and Dr. Glenn Etzel for their compassion and care during the illness of our beloved Ann. We love you Yia Yia and will always remember you! Your memory will be eternal.
In her loving memory a funeral service was conducted Saturday, Jan. 10, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagian service Friday, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Special Project Fund in Price.

Allen Price


PRICE-Our beloved father Allen Price, 87, passed away Jan. 10, 2004, at home (Heirloom Inn) in Price. He was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Ferron to William Henry and Lydia Jane Metcalf Price.
Allen was a true cowboy who enjoyed farming, ranching, hunting and breaking horses. He worked for Kaiser Steel Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA Local 9958 for over 40 years. He was one of the original members of the Grassy Trail Riding Club in Sunnyside.
He married Zelda A. Peterson, later deceased, they had one daughter, Geraldine. He then married Oma McBroom, Nov. 1, 1941 (pictured). They had six children, Vivian, Larry, Jerry, Regina, Richard and Gayla. Oma passed away Sept. 23, 1987. He then married Sibyl Timothy, March 19, 1989, he inherited six more children, Molly, Dixie, Bob, Sandra, Holly and Judy. Sibyl passed away June 5, 2003. He was a member of the LDS Church.
Allen is survived by his children: Geraldine (Larry) Olsen of Manti; Vivian (Chester) Housekeeper, Larry Price, Jerry (Frances) Price, Regina (Tom) McCourt, Richard (Kathy) Price, Gayla (Rick) Housekeeper, all of Carbon County; Molly Wood, Oregon; Dixie (Leon) Thayne of Price; Bob (Shirley) Wilstead, St. George; Sandra (Dean) Holdaway, Holly (Delon) Larsen both of Salt Lake City; and Judy (Jim) Noyes of Price. Also survived by 51 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister Dora Fautin of Lindon, brothers Owen Price of Orangeville and Daniel (Maxine) Price of Wellington. Preceded in death by his parents, his wives, two son-in-laws, Robert Bachelder and Ronald Leonard, granddaughter Judy Lynn Pearson, three sisters and three brothers.
A viewing will be held Jan. 13 from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Fausett Mortuary in Price. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Price City Cemetery. If weather is bad, a short service will be held at Fausett Mortuary Chapel at 1 p.m. with a grave dedication to follow at the cemetery.

Ruth Redd Dart


PRICE-Ruth Redd Dart, age 79, passed away Jan. 7, 2004 at her home in Price surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Oct.15, 1924, in Price to John Hardison and Veta Bryner Redd. She married James M. Dart, Sr. on Sept. 25, 1943 in Seattle, Wash.; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
While residing in the Seattle/Tacoma area during WWII, Ruth was employed at the Bon Marche Department Store in downtown Seattle as a comptometer operator in the personnel department. She also worked for the Todd Shipyards in Tacoma. After returning to Price, she spent her time raising her family whom she loved dearly. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to knit. She was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives, supporting them as scorekeeper for the Price WBBA, encouraging them in their music education, and was always there to teach them the value of excellence in all their endeavors and the importance of service to others. As the children became more independent, Ruth helped provide support for the children’s educational needs and missionary service by teaching scores of piano students from beginner to advanced. An accomplished musician with a passionate love of music, she played piano for many years with her husband in the “Jimmy Dart Orchestra” and sang with the New Century Double Trio at various civic and church events. She later was employed at the Parkdale Care Center and later at the CEU Bookstore. She was intimately involved in the daily operation of KRPX-AM and KPRQ-FM radio stations in Price, helping her husband and sons fulfill a lifelong dream. As an active member of the LDS Church, she served as President of the Price fifth ward Relief Society, and on the Relief Society Board in the Carbon Stake, as well as many other callings. Her family remembers her many acts of kindness to others.
Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, “Jimmy” of Price; and children, Diane (Randol) Potter of Salt Lake City; James (Diane) Dart, Jr. of Price; Richard (Dedee) Dart of Lakeville, Mass; David Dart of Pasadena, Calif; Merrilyn (George) Farish of Spring Glen; 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren plus one grandchild and four great-grandchildren on the way. Also survived by brother, John “Jack” Redd of Salt Lake City, and sisters, Ruby Harris of Orem; Marie Snow of Ogden. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sat; Jan. 10, 2004, at noon in the Price 4th/5th Ward Chapel, located at 545 East 400 North in Price. Friends called Friday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home, and from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment at the Price City Cemetery.
