Emery County Pet Super Fix

Emery County Fair Entries
Begin thinking about entries for the Emery County Fair exhibits. Now is the time to start. For information , contact Bernice Payne at 653-2212, the Extension Office at 381-2381 or Kathy Justice at 687-2403. This year’s theme is “Building Bridges.” We encourage everyone to join in and submit an entry. Prizes will be awarded this year. The exhibits will become a thing to remember. There are many talented people in this county and the exhibits in last year were among the best in the state. Help keep the number of exhibits growing and improving.
Emery County Fair Honorees
This year the fair would like to celebrate youth. We will honor all youth by honoring those men and women that have had exceptional influence in a child or youths life. This may be a teacher, fireman or policeman. It could be a coach, a 4-leader or scout leader. Anyone that puts forth the extra effort to help those they teach. If anyone fits into that category, tell us so that everyone can be considered. Submit your entry to: Emery County Fair, P.O.Box 1160, Huntington, Ut. 84528. Your entries will be kept confidential. This year, the theme for the fair is “Building Bridges.” Nominations must be received by March 1.
Huntington Elementary Valentine Carnival
Huntington Elementary PTA is accepting donations of stuffed animals to be used at the carnival. The carnival will be held in conjunction with Valentines’ Day. Drop off your donations at the school.
DROPS
DROPS will be held at the Castle Dale Fairgrounds, 500 East and 100 South, on Jan. 27. Sign ups at noon. First come, first served. Do not block private driveways.
Historical Society
The Emery County Historical Society will host the February meeting at the Museum of the San Rafael at 7 p.m. “A Patriotic Program” will present musical selection by local students and the featured speaker will be April Durrant, whose husband is currently serving in Baghdad, Iraq. Refreshments will be served.
Bridal Fair
A bridal will take place at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Multi-purpose room on the CEU campus on Jan. 30 from 3-8 p.m. and Jan. 31 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be displays and a silent auction. For information call 435-316-5303.
Huntington Dog Licenses
The Huntington City 2004 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on: Jan. 24, 9 a.m.-noon, Dr. Brent Griggs; Feb. 28, 9 a.m.-noon, Dr. Glen Jensen.
Snowmobile Safety
Utah law states that children ages 8 to 15 must be certified to operate a snowmobile on public lands. Register for Utah’s snowmobile class at the Emery County Recreatoin Office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Class will be Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the County Building, 75 East Main, Castle Dale. Mrs. Utah International
Applications are now being accepted for City/County titleholders to compete for the title of Mrs. Utah International to be held May 7-8, at Bingham High School. Each City/County titleholder will receive a banner and crown pin as well as a wonderful prize package just for entering. You must be between 21 and 56 years of age by July 1, married at least 6 months and have lived in Utah for 6 months. Bingo Fund Raiser
Price Ladies of Elks bingo fund raiser will be held a the Price Elks Lodge on Jan. 24 from 2-4 p.m., public welcome.
Ferron Rabies Clinic
Dr. Utley will be the vet at the clinic on Jan. 22 from 4-6 p.m., also at the fire station. All dogs in Ferron must be licensed by Jan. 31. Fines will be issued on unlicensed dogs. Licenses can also be obtained by bringing proof of rabies vaccination to city hall during regular business hours.
Canyon View Junior High Parent Teacher Conference
Parent/teacher conferences will be held Jan. 20 and 21 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Canyon View Junior High School. Second term report cards will be handed out. Mr. Wise, Mrs. Weihing, Mr. Bird and Mr. Fehlberg will be on Tuesday only. Mrs. Karpowitz will be on Wednesday only.
Basketball Camp

Castle Dale Dog License Clinic
All dogs in Castle Dale must be licensed. Dogs must be licensed by Feb. 29, after March 1 a late fee will be charged.
RSVP Senior Fair
RSVP will be sponsoring a senior affairs fair on Feb. 19 from 1-5 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. There will be many workshops offered covering a wide variety of topics of concerning senior life.
Food Handlers Classes
There will be two food handler’s classes for all persons working in food handling establishments. The classes will be taught in Castle Dale on Feb. 5 at 4 and 7 p.m. For more information about the class, call Terri Bennett at 381-2252 in Castle Dale or Dr. Claron Bjork at 637-3671 in Price.
BLM Proposed Grazing Rule
The draft environmental impact statement prepared in connection with a proposed grazing rule that the BLM published in Dec. 2003, is now available on the BLM’s website and in the Federal Fegister. This begins the public comment period, and a series of public meetings to be held throughout the West. On Jan. 27, in Salt Lake City, the first meeting will be held in the Marriott Hotel, 75 South West Temple, from 6-10 p.m. Others will be held around the country to gather comments on the proposal. The public comment period will end March 2.

Orangeville Dog Licenses
Orangeville animal licenses for 2004 are due by Feb. 28. Rabies clinic at Orangeville Fire Station on Feb. 21 from 9 a.m.-noon. Licenses will be available at the clinics.

Veterans, Widows and Dependents
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in your area, working out of the Price Workforce Service Center from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits. This is a free service.
Tube’n Train
The Heber Valley Railroad is taking passengers to the station stop at Soldier Hollow. From ther, passengers take a 1,000 foot tubing hill. Price includes the ride to the stop, a specially designed tube to use and the return train ride to Heber City. Utah Arts Festival
The Utah Arts Festival is now accepting applications from visual, performing and culinary artists who would like to be considered for participation in the 2004 Festival at Library Square. Emergency Preparedness Fair
Do your children know how to handle an emergency? They are never too young to learn. What would your family do in a prolonged power outage? What would you do for heat, preparing food, storing food, etc. Come to the Emergency Preparedness Fair on Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. for important information.
Eyeglasses for Lions Club
The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens’ glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lange at 687-5349.
Rabies Clinic
Cleveland Town will sponsor a rabies clinic on Jan. 24, 2004 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery storage building, 200 North 600 East. All dogs are required to have a current rabies shot before they can be licensed for the new year.
New Exhibits at the Museum of Church History and Art
Four new exhibits have opened at the Museum of Church History and Art. They are Landscape and Life: The Rural Setting of the Latter-day Saint, Boyd K. Packer: the Lifework of an Amateur Artist, Music and the Spoken Word: Celebrating 75 Years of Mormon Tabernacle Choir Radio and You Have a Family Tree. Need help with your heating bills? Get in touch with HEAT. Apply at Emery County Community Center, 40 South Center Street in Castle Dale. Applications will be taken from Nov. 3, 2003 to March 31, 2004. Proof of income, family size or disability will be required. Call 381-5410 for an appointment.

If you have suffered a stroke or been diagnosed with arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, a respiratory disorder, or any other condition which causes you to be unable to walk or self propel a manual wheelchair, you may be eliglible to receive a motorized wheelchair at no out of pocket expense. Salvation Army
Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Union Local 6363
Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Attend if you want to receive 70 year anniversary cap.

Recreation Center Open Night
