Ross Norton
WELLINGTON-Ross Norton “The Best” husband, dad, grandfather, friend and brother, passed away in his home Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at the age of 79. He was born to Lafe and Vida Norton Feb. 21, 1924 in Kiz (Clarks Valley), Utah. He married the love of his life Melene Burnett Norton on Feb. 12, 1945, in Wellington.
Ross served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific, was a member and served in local and district offices of the UMWA, was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in 1956, and a member of the LDS Church.
Survived by his sweetheart Melene, children Barry (Lynda) Norton, Pittsburgh, Penn., Cathy (Jack) LaRose, Wellington, Debra (Russell) Hobbs, Woods Cross, Leslie (Wayne) Woodward, Price, Tracy World, Magna; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brother and sister Donna (Dale) Jensen, Bruce (Gwenda) Norton; brother and sisters-in-law Elaine Norton, Irene Salzetti, Floyd and Lila Golding, Charles and Phyllis Bradshaw, Nona Burnett, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Lafe and Vida, grandchild Tami Norton, great-grandchild Seth Howes; brothers Darrell, Melvin, Glen, Carl and sister Vivian.
His greatest joy in life was his wife and family. He loved fishing and camping. He was a coal miner, policeman and master craftsman. He enjoyed sharing his many projects with family and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday Jan, 29, 2004 at the Wellington Stake Center at 1 p.m. A viewing was held the previous evening at Fausett Mortuary. Burial in the Wellington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
John Giordano
HELPER – Frank John Giordano, age 71, passed away Jan. 27, 2004 at his home in Helper.
Born Jan. 2, 1933 in Royal to Angelo and Helen Verde Giordano. Married Lois Willis Nov. 23, 1957 in Helper.
John was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper. Member of Stella D’America Italian 77. Retired from D&RGW with 30 years of dedicated service.
John loved baseball and playing for the Helper American Legion.
A talented woodworker, John loved to share his creations with everyone. He enjoyed fishing and hunting
After his retirement, he enjoyed many vacations, thanks to a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ben Wharff.
John had a kind heart and a kiss for all the ladies. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and community of friends.
Survived by wife, Lois Giordano, Helper; four daughters, Kathy (Don) Fausett, Helper; Sandy Funcannon, Salt Lake City; Mona (Paul) Jara-millo, Price; Judy (Darin) Olson, Helper; brother, Daniel “Naz” Giordano, Helper; sons-in-law, Dave Funcannon and Jeff Wright, both of Price; 12 loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and a nephew, Michael Giordano.
Funeral Mass Saturday, Jan. 31, St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service was Friday at the church in Helper.Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Annie Oliveto
PRICE-Teresa Annie Angotti Oliveto, age 83, passed away Jan. 28, 2004 at the Heirloom Inn while surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 20, 1921 in Sunnyside to Salvatore “Sam” and Catherine Guzzo Angotti. Married Ross Oliveto, Sept. 16, 1941 in Price; he died May 16, 2002.
Annie was a devout Catholic and practiced her religion faithfully. She gave many hours of service to Notre Dame School while her daughters were attending. She took a great deal of pride making sure everything was neat and in order with her home and person.
Annie enjoyed spending time with her family, sisters and brother. She especially looked forward to the many visits with her great-grandson, Nickolas. She enjoyed time spent at the Heirloom Inn with Shauna, Kelly and all the wonderful staff.
Survived by her daughter, Carol (Earl) Marra, Price; granddaughters, Machele (Shane) Lemon, Grand Junction, Colo.; Stephanie (Steve) Oviatt, Huntington; Nicole (Rob) Alt, Billings, Mont.; great-grandson, Nickolas Ross Oviatt, Huntington; three sisters and one brother, Mary Paloni, Angie (George) Farlaino, Rose Grako, John (Mary) Angotti, all of Price; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Preceded in death by her husband, Ross; daughter, Merlene; parents, and brother, Tony Angotti.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Heirloom Inn and Community Nursing Hospice, especially, JoAnn.
Funeral Mass was held Sat. Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. Vigil service was Friday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home. Committal service Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Notre Dame Catholic Church.
James Edward Jentges
PRICE-James “Jim” Edward Jentges, age 63, passed away Jan. 21, 2004 in Salt Lake City. He was born Oct. 28, 1940 in Lady Smith, Wis. to Jas and Molley Compos Jentges. He married Fern Winters on June 27, 1989 in Elko, Nev.
Jim enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing card games, doing canvas work and woodworking crafts with small tools. He enjoyed the LDS Church and going to the Senior Citizens Center.
He is survived by his wife Fern Jentges of Price; daughter Karla Jentges of Missouri, stepson James (Angie) Brailey of Price. Jim is also survived by a brother, Larry (Sally) Jentges and a sister Dorothy Jentges.
A memorial service will be held at the Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. Private interment will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
Anthony Tsaousis
GREEN RIVER-Anthony (Tony) Tsaousis, age 59, passed away on Jan. 27,2004 in Green River. He was born Oct.16,1943 in Patterson, N.J. to Mildred Tsaousis. He was raised in San Diego, Calif. He served his country, in the US Navy from 1962 to 1968. He served as a gunner on the US Kitty Hawk.
Tony will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, children: Tony Jr., Mary, Darr, Ilea, and sister, Arlene, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and 12 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Green River Bible Church on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004.
