Republican Candidates
Come meet and hear the governor candidates and representatives at the Republican Lincoln Day Dinner to be held Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. This is the time to present your questions and special concerns to the candidates.
Range School

Cloye Tucker Benefit
A Sweetheart Dance and benefit spaghetti dinner will be held at Cleveland City Hall on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. The dance will begin at 7 p.m. with the Val Jensen Band supplying the music. All proceeds go to the medical bills incurred by Cloye Tucker before his passing. Sponsored by the Huntington Lions Club.
Poetry Reading
Utah Poet Laureate Ken Brewer and poet Natasha Saje wil give a poetry reading at the College of Eastern Utah’s Alumni room in the College Center Building on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. This reading is free and sponsored by CEU and the Utah Arts Council.
Democratic Presidential Primary
Utah Democratic Presidential Primary election will be held on Feb. 24 at all Emery County city libraries. Voting time noon-8 p.m. Exercise your right to vote.
Daffodil Fundraiser
The American Cancer Society’s annual daffodil fundraiser is taking orders now. Orders and money are due Feb. 17, flowers will be delivered March 15-16. Contact Jessie Huff at 637-3671.
ACT Test
The next nation-wide test date for the ACT Assessment for college bound high school students will be April 3. Registration deadline is Feb. 27. For more information including registration forms and test locations, contact your high school guidance counselor or register online at http://www.act.org.
Biking by Choice
Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state. A main event ride will begin in Huntington and will continue for six days through the heart of Utah. Senior Mobility
The Senior Mobility Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled, power electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-451-0971 to see if you qualify.

Huntington DUP will their meeting on Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. in the senior citizens center.
No Cost or Low Cost Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening
To schedule your women’s cancer screening appointment call the Southeastern Utah District Health Department’s Castle Dale at 381-2252. These exams may be free for women ages 50-64. The screening clinic will be held Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. -3:30 p.m. and the health department, 25 West Main in Castle Dale.

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Emery County Pet Super Fix

Emery County Fair Entries
Begin thinking about entries for the Emery County Fair exhibits. Now is the time to start. This year’s theme is “Building Bridges.” We encourage everyone to join in and submit an entry. Prizes will be awarded this year. The exhibits will become a thing to remember. There are many talented people in this county and the exhibits in last year were among the best in the state. Help keep the number of exhibits growing and improving.
Emery County Fair Honorees
This year the fair would like to celebrate youth. We will honor all youth by honoring those men and women that have had exceptional influence in a child or youths life. This may be a teacher, fireman or policeman. It could be a coach, a 4-leader or scout leader. Anyone that puts forth the extra effort to help those they teach. This year, the theme for the fair is “Building Bridges.” Nominations must be received by March 1.
Huntington Elementary Valentine Carnival
Huntington Elementary PTA is accepting donations of stuffed animals to be used at the carnival. The carnival will be held in conjunction with Valentines’ Day. Drop off your donations at the school.
Huntington Dog Licenses
The Huntington City 2004 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on: Jan. 24, 9 a.m.-noon, Dr. Brent Griggs; Feb. 28, 9 a.m.-noon, Dr. Glen Jensen.
Mrs. Utah International
Applications are now being accepted for City/County titleholders to compete for the title of Mrs. Utah International to be held May 7-8, at Bingham High School. Each City/County titleholder will receive a banner and crown pin as well as a wonderful prize package just for entering. You must be between 21 and 56 years of age by July 1, married at least 6 months and have lived in Utah for 6 months. Basketball Camp

Castle Dale Dog License Clinic
All dogs in Castle Dale must be licensed. Dogs must be licensed by Feb. 29, after March 1 a late fee will be charged.
RSVP Senior Fair
RSVP will be sponsoring a senior affairs fair on Feb. 19 from 1-5 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. There will be many workshops offered covering a wide variety of topics of concerning senior life.
Orangeville Dog Licenses
Orangeville animal licenses for 2004 are due by Feb. 28. Rabies clinic at Orangeville Fire Station on Feb. 21 from 9 a.m.-noon. Licenses will be available at the clinics.

Veterans, Widows and Dependents
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in your area, working out of the Price Workforce Service Center from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits. This is a free service.
Tube’n Train
The Heber Valley Railroad is taking passengers to the station stop at Soldier Hollow. From ther, passengers take a 1,000 foot tubing hill. Price includes the ride to the stop, a specially designed tube to use and the return train ride to Heber City. Utah Arts Festival
The Utah Arts Festival is now accepting applications from visual, performing and culinary artists who would like to be considered for participation in the 2004 Festival at Library Square. New Exhibits at the Museum of Church History and Art
Four new exhibits have opened at the Museum of Church History and Art. They are Landscape and Life: The Rural Setting of the Latter-day Saint, Boyd K. Packer: the Lifework of an Amateur Artist, Music and the Spoken Word: Celebrating 75 Years of Mormon Tabernacle Choir Radio and You Have a Family Tree. H.E.A.T.
Need help with your heating bills? Get in touch with HEAT. Apply at Emery County Community Center, 40 South Center Street in Castle Dale. Applications will be taken from Nov. 3, 2003 to March 31, 2004. Proof of income, family size or disability will be required. Call 381-5410 for an appointment.
Power Wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-246-6010.
Salvation Army
Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Union Local 6363
Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Attend if you want to receive 70 year anniversary cap.

Recreation Center Open Night
