Veterans, Widow and Dependents


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits on April 8, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Castle Dale Library Story Time


Story Time for pre-schoolers will be held every Friday at 11 a.m. Come and laugh it up with us.

Reading Rainbow Annual National Contest


Castle Dale Library announces its intent to promote the Reading Rainbow’s 10th Annual National Contest. Kindergarten through third grade students can enter by writing and illustrating their own stories. Every entrant will receive a certificate of achievement signed by LaVar Burton. Twelve national winners will be selected, three for each grade level. Contest ends April 2. Visit the library for more information. Little League Sign Ups


Emery County Little League sign ups will be held on March 24 and 25. Free Gun Locks


The National Safety Tour will visit Emery County to provide free cable-style gunlocks and accompanying education materials as part of the Project Childsafe Program on March 15 at the Emery County Sheriff’s Office. For further information visit www.projectchildsafe.org.

Heritage Tourism


Wilson Martin, Associate Director of the Utah State Historical Society, will speak at CEU Prehistoric Museum in Price, on March 18 at 7 p.m.

Prelude to Glory


Russell Wilson will present a musical celebration of the American Revolutionary War entitled Prelude to Glory on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Price Civic Auditorium.

Emery High Rodeo


The Emery High School Rodeo Team will host their annual rodeo April 16-17 at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. The rodeo will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. A moment to honor the seniors on the team will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening. Rodeo will begin at 5 p.m.

Mass Vaccination Clinic


Southeastern Utah District Health Department mass vaccination clinic will be held March 20 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Creekview Elementary in Price. Free shots will be administered to adults (18 years or older). All residents from Emery, Carbon, Grand and San Juan counties are welcome to attend. For more information call 435-259-5602. Vaccinations offered will be tetanus, hepatitis A and B, singley or in combination.

Women’s Conference


CEU will host the 25th annual women’s conference on April 16 with Norma Matheson keynoting the afternoon session. The conference will take place in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. Mule Deer Foundation


The Castle Country Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation announced it will host a fund-raising banquet/auction at the Price Elks Lodge on March 27. Ferron City Controlled Burn Season


Controlled burn season will be March 27-May 2. Stop in at city hall and fill out a burn permit before you burn. Calling in burn information to city hall will no longer be acceptable. Individuals who burn without signing a permit may be subject to penalties.

Babe Ruth Baseball Meeting


The San Rafael Babe Ruth Baseball organization meeting will be held March 18 at the Emery County Recreation Building in Castle Dale at 6 p.m.

Emery County Historical Society

Snowmobile Safety and You


Utah’s snowmobile class will be held March 17 at 6 p.m. at the county building located at 75 East Main, Castle Dale. Utah law states that children from ages 8-15 must be certified to operate a snowmobile on public lands. Register at Emery County Recreation Office located at 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. Scouts have you been working on your booth for the Scout A Rama that will be held on May 1 at the Emery County Recreation Building in Castle Dale? Cub Scouts do you have your posters made? The Cub Scouts will be around selling tickets for this. Ticket sales will begin April 1. To make this Scout A Rama successful, we all need to have a booth. Ferron Reading Program


Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read one million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. Record keeping forms are available at Ferron Elementary, Ferron Library and Ferron City Hall during business hours. Forms may be returned to the same locations. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Biking by Choice


Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state. A main event ride will begin in Huntington and will continue for six days through the heart of Utah. Begin thinking about entries for the Emery County Fair exhibits. Now is the time to start. This year’s theme is “Building Bridges.” We encourage everyone to join in and submit an entry. Prizes will be awarded this year. The exhibits will become a thing to remember.
