Volunteers Needed


Can you spare a “time?” That’s right, just a few hours of time once a week to make somebody happy. You know how good you feel when you do something for someone else. Special Needs Dance Program


Special Needs Dance registration will be held April 8 from 2-5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. The program will be April 15-16. This program is for children who are physically or mentally challenged. For more information, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

BLM Internet Service


In a ruling issued on March 24, the US Court of Appeals has temporarily restored internet connections for the BLM and other Dept. of Interior agencies. This ruling will remain in effect until further review by the court.

Poster Contest


Hey kids! The Castle Dale Library is sponsoring a poster contest. The theme for the contest is “Something for Everyone at the Library.” Please include the theme on your poster. Bring posters in by April 16. Posters will be displayed during national library week, April 19-23. Winners will be announced April 23 at 4 p.m. during Book Talk.

Cleveland Egg Hunt


Cleveland Town will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt this year on April 3 at noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the town hall. Huntington Egg Hunt


Huntington Lions Club will hold an Easter egg hunt in Huntington on April 7 at 2 p.m. at the city park on Main Street.

Castle Dale Egg Hunt


All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to attend the awesome Castle Dale Easter Egg Hunt at Cheddar Field on April 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m., sharp. Remember to bring your Easter baskets to load up with prizes and candy. This is a free event sponsored by Castle Dale City and youth council.

Emery Town History Book


Emery Town is reprinting the original Emery Town 1883-1981 history book. Advance orders are being taken at the Emery Town Office. Call 286-2417 to reserve your copy. Plans are underway for the 24th of July celebration. Anyone wishing to set up a booth should contact city hall. Arts and Crafts are also being added to the celebration this year. Either for display or for sale. The annual talent show and games are also scheduled.

Orangeville Burn Permits


Open burn window is March 27-May 2. Come into the city hall for a burn permit before you burn. Individuals who do not obtain a burn permit may be subject to penalties.

Vintage Photo Contest


The 2004 Vintage Photo Contest is out to spur interest in old photos with cash and prizes. Finalists will be judged on aesthetic value and the interest of the stories behind the photos. Finalists will be selected through www.vintagephotocontest.com where visitors can browse through the contest entries, read the stories and cast their votes. Cleveland Burn Window


Cleveland Town burn window will be March 22-May 2. Cleveland Town now requires everyone who plans a controlled burn to obtain a burn permit from the town hall. For more information, call 653-2310. This includes yard waste.

Reading Rainbow Annual National Contest


Castle Dale Library announces its intent to promote the Reading Rainbow’s 10th Annual National Contest. Kindergarten through third grade students can enter by writing and illustrating their own stories. Every entrant will receive a certificate of achievement signed by LaVar Burton. Twelve national winners will be selected, three for each grade level. Contest ends April 2. Visit the library for more information. Emery High Rodeo


The Emery High School Rodeo Team will host their annual rodeo April 16-17 at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. The rodeo will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. A moment to honor the seniors on the team will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Ferron City Controlled Burn Season


Controlled burn season will be March 27-May 2. Stop in at city hall and fill out a burn permit before you burn. Calling in burn information to city hall will no longer be acceptable. Individuals who burn without signing a permit may be subject to penalties.

Scouts have you been working on your booth for the Scout A Rama that will be held on May 1 at the Emery County Recreation Building in Castle Dale? Cub Scouts do you have your posters made? The Cub Scouts will be around selling tickets for this. Ticket sales will begin April 1. To make this Scout A Rama successful, we all need to have a booth. Ferron Reading Program


Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read 1 million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. Record keeping forms are available at Ferron Elementary, Ferron Library and Ferron City Hall during business hours. Forms may be returned to the same locations. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Biking by Choice


Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state. Begin thinking about entries for the Emery County Fair exhibits. Now is the time to start.
