Castle Country Spring Festival


The Castle Country Spring Festival Arts and Crafts Fair will be held on April 23 and 24. On Friday from 1-7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m – 5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. There will be entertainment, food, door prizes,giveaways, handcrafted items, candles, furniture, cosmetics, scrapbook supplies and much more.

Surplus Equipment Sale


Ferron City Youth Council will hold a surplus equipment sale on April 17, from noon-2 p.m. at the city maintenance shop, 90 East Mill Road in Ferron. A preview of the items to be sold will be held on April 16 from 5-6 p.m.

Healthy Camp


On June 14-16, high school students who are interested in pursuing a healthcare career can attend SU-AHECs Health Career Exploration Camp. The camp will be held on the campus of Southern Utah University. For more information call, 1-888-89-RURAL.

The Emery County Fair theme is Building Bridges. For entries in the parade, call 687-2403. The parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 7.

Three on Three Basketball Fundraiser


A three on three basketball tournament fundraiser will be held for Canino Leon, a student at Huntington Elementary. Canino needs surgery and his family has no insurance. The tournament will be held at Mission San Rafael in Huntington. Aluminum Can Drive


Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country will hold an aluminum can drive through the month of April. Cans may be taken to Price Metal Salvage, 510 East 1250 South, Price, or call them at 637-8609. Food Handlers Workshops


The Southeastern Utah District Health Department will be conducting two food handler’s workshops April 15 at the health department in Castle Dale, 25 West Main, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. For more information about the class, call Terri Bennett at 381-2252 or Dr. Claron Bjork at 637-3671 in Price.

Special Immunization Clinic


In conjunction with National Immunization Month, there will be a special immunization clinic April 26 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., at the health department, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. Prizes will be given. Shots will be given if you have Medicaid, PEHP, CHIP, or if your insurance doesn’t cover immunizations. For any questions call 381-2252.

Vegas Night Out


Benefit event for Jerry Stofko, May 8 at Emery County Recreational Center in Castle Dale. Spaghetti dinner from 6-7 p.m. followed by Vegas style games from 7- 9:30 p.m. and an auction. Buckhorn District Scout A Rama


All scouts, cub scouts and leaders: Scout A Rama will be May 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pinewood Derby will also be held that day for the Champion Cars of the District. Mrs. Utah America


Apply now for the Mrs. Utah America Pageant. Completed applications are due by May 1. The pageant features beauty and family values while fostering community service activities. Mrs. Utah America represents a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles and personal interests, ages 21 to 72. The pageant will be June 18-19 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts in Salt Lake. Harmony Circus comes to Castle Dale


Harmony Circus is coming to Castle Dale for two performances on April 14. Show times will be 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Building, 75 South 400 East. The circus is billed as the Greatest Little Show. Fun for the entire family.

Emery County Democratic Convention.


The Emery County Democrats will be holding their county convention and dinner on April 16 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael (96 No. 100 E. in Castle Dale). All interested people are welcome to attend. Democrat County Commissioner candidate will be voted on and state party officer candidates will speak. Congressman Jim Matheson will be the Keynote speaker. Dinner, entertainment and prize drawing will also be provided. Tickets will be available at the door or contact your precinct chair or Kim Player or Duane Collard.

Emery County Republican Convention


The Emery County Republican Convention will be held on April 13 at Huntington Elementary beginning promptly at 7 p.m. Registration for County Delegates will begin at 6:15 p.m. All Emery County residents are encouraged to attend this convention where Republican Gubernatorial, State, Congressional and local Commissioner Candidates will address the convention. The convention hall will be open at 6 p.m. for the public to meet and visit with the candidates.

RSVP Garden Party


Seniors of Emery County are welcome to attend a Garden Party at the Castle Dale Senior Center on April 19 at 1 p.m. Come and learn how to take care of your gardens. There will also be painting of Happy Factory cars.

New Category for Emery County Fair Entries


Scrapbooking is the new category for the Emery County Fair this year. Pull out your best pages to enter into the competition, or better still, you have four months to construct pages for judging. There will be five days of scrapbook demonstrations held at the county recreation building, If you are interested in presenting a demonstration, contact Jerilyn Mathis at 381-2554 (work) or 381-2466 (home) for further information.

Volunteers Needed

BLM Internet Service


In a ruling issued on March 24, the US Court of Appeals has temporarily restored internet connections for the BLM and other Dept. of Interior agencies. This ruling will remain in effect until further review by the court.
