Dr. David Law Provides Expert Advice for Parents


The Emergency Local Interagency Council and Domestic Violence Coalition presents Dr. David Law, an Emery County native and co-author of the parenting program Love, Limits and Lattitude. Youth Leadership Conference

Benefit for Swaseys and Merrells


A benefit for the Swasey and Merrell families will be held at the Emery High School Little Theater on April 23 and 24. The performance will be the complete works of William Shakespeare in two hours. The cost for admittance will be donated to the families. Performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Community Theatre


Emery County Community Theatre will present Annie on April 29-30 and May 1 and 3 in the Emery High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. each night.

Historical Society


“Why the Cowboy Sings” will be presented at the Emery County Historical Society meeting to be held at the Museum of the San Rafael on April 22 at 7 p.m. Hal Cannon, folklorist, will be the presenter. He is the founding director of the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering held each year in Elko, Nev. This is a program of the Utah Humanities Council. This program is a reschedule of the February meeting which was cancelled due to weather.

Bike The Swell


The San Rafael Swell Mountain Bike Festival, sponsored by the MECCA bike club and Emery County Recreation, will be held May 14-16. Registration will begin on May 14 at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River at 1 p.m. Beginning, intermediate and advanced rides are included. Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, department service office, will be in the area to assist in understanding and applying for rightful benefits, on May 13 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Cleveland Burn Window Date Change

Cleveland Town burn window will be March 22-April 25. Cleveland Town now requires everyone who plans a controlled burn to obtain a burn permit from the town hall. For more information, call 653-2310. This includes yard waste. Note the date change.

Muzzleloaders Shoot


The Bookcliff Muzzleloaders will host their spring shoot April 30 and May 1-2. Registration will be Friday night and beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Castle Country Spring Festival


The Castle Country Spring Festival Arts and Crafts Fair will be held on April 23 and 24. On Friday from 1-7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m – 5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. There will be entertainment, food, door prizes, giveaways, handcrafted items, candles, furniture, cosmetics, scrapbook supplies and much more.

Three on Three Basketball Fundraiser


A three on three basketball tournament fundraiser will be held for Canino Leon, a student at Huntington Elementary. Canino needs surgery and his family has no insurance. Special Immunization Clinic


In conjunction with National Immunization Month, there will be a special immunization clinic April 26 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., at the health department, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. New Category for Emery County Fair Entries


Scrapbooking is the new category for the Emery County Fair this year. Pull out your best pages to enter into the competition, or better still, you have four months to construct pages for judging. Emery Town History Book


Emery Town is reprinting the original Emery Town 1883-1981 history book. Advance orders are being taken at the Emery Town Office. Call 286-2417 to reserve your copy. Plans are underway for the 24th of July celebration. Anyone wishing to set up a booth should contact city hall. Arts and Crafts are also being added to the celebration this year. Either for display or for sell. The annual talent show and games are also scheduled.

Orangeville Burn Permits


Open burn window is March 27-May 2. Come into the city hall for a burn permit before you burn. Individuals who do not obtain a burn permit may be subject to penalties.

Vintage Photo Contest


The 2004 Vintage Photo Contest is out to spur interest in old photos with cash and prizes. Finalists will be judged on aesthetic value and the interest of the stories behind the photos. Ferron City Controlled Burn Season

Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read 1 million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Biking by Choice


Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state.
