Operation Home Support


Ferron Post and Unit #42 of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary is accepting donations to be sent to local service men and women. Emery History Book


Emery Town is republishing the original Emery History Book. This book is being reproduced exactly as it was with no changes. Advance orders are being taken for books at Emery Town Hall. The books will be ready for sale on Memorial Day and at that time the price will be higher. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Emery historical “Old Church” fund. Huntington City Secondary Water


Even numbered houses and lots, water Monday and Thursday; odd numbered houses and lots, water Tuesday and Friday; churches, schools, mobile home parks, cemetery and city parks, water Wednesday and Saturday. Absolutely no watering on Sunday. Watering hours 6-10 a.m. and 6-10 p.m. No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Absolutely no watering during the night. The water forecast for this year is not as good as it was last year. Everyone needs to conserve water and follow the watering schedule. It is a violation to allow water to run onto land owned by another person or onto city streets. Anyone not following the water schedule or wasting water will be subject to penalties. First offense-warning; second offense-citation; and third offense-loss of secondary water for season.

Buckhorn Archery Club 3D Shoot

Dr. David Law Provides Expert Advice for Parents


The Emery Local Interagency Council and Domestic Violence Coalition present Dr. David Law, an Emery County native and co-author of the parenting program Love, Limits and Latitude. He will speak on “What parents can do to help their child.” April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. Everyone welcome.

Fundraiser for Canino Leon


A fundraiser will be held to obtain the needed funds for Canino’s surgeries, on May 1 at 6 p.m. It will be a Cinco De Mayo Celebration at Huntington Elementary and will consist of a Mexican meal and a silent and live auction. Items are needed for the auction. If you have any items or would like to purchase a meal ticket, please contact Joy Humphrey, Laura Cox or Yvonne Davis at the school.

Community Theatre


Emery County Community Theatre will present Annie on April 29-30 and May 1 and 3 in the Emery High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. each night.

Bike The Swell


The San Rafael Swell Mountain Bike Festival, sponsored by the MECCA bike club and Emery County Recreation, will be held May 14-16. Registration will begin on May 14 at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River at 1 p.m. Beginning, intermediate and advanced rides are included. Stamp Out Hunger


The National Association of Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, will be collecting non-perishable food items like canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice on May 8 to help families in the community. Donations can be taken to the post offices and from there it will be taken to the local food bank. Do not include any glass items or perishable foods.

Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, department service office, will be in the area to assist in understanding and applying for rightful benefits, on May 13 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Muzzleloaders Spring Shoot


The Bookcliff Muzzleloaders will host their spring shoot April 30 and May 1-2. Registration will be Friday night and beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Healthy Camp

A three on three basketball tournament fundraiser will be held for Canino Leon, a student at Huntington Elementary. Canino needs surgery and his family has no insurance. Scrapbooking Entries for County Fair


Scrapbooking is the new category for the Emery County Fair this year. Pull out your best pages to enter into the competition, or better still, you have three months to construct pages for judging. Car Seat Check


Sgt. Martin Wilson will be conducting a car seat check, also a short gun safety class and distributing gun locks, at the Emery Medical Center on May 5 from 3-6 p.m.

Plans are underway for the 24th of July celebration. Anyone wishing to set up a booth should contact city hall. Arts and Crafts are also being added to the celebration this year. Orangeville Burn Permits


Open burn window is March 27-May 2. Come into the city hall for a burn permit before you burn. Individuals who do not obtain a burn permit may be subject to penalties.

Ferron City Controlled Burn Season


Controlled burn season will be March 27-May 2. Stop in at city hall and fill out a burn permit before you burn. Calling in burn information to city hall will no longer be acceptable. Individuals who burn without signing a permit may be subject to penalties.

Ferron Reading Program


Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read 1 million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. Record keeping forms are available at Ferron Elementary, Ferron Library and Ferron City Hall during business hours. Forms may be returned to the same locations. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Biking by Choice


Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state. A main event ride will begin in Huntington and will continue for six days through the heart of Utah.
