Ruth Litster
CASTLE DALE – Ruth Emma Litster, age 79, was reunited with her loving husband June 3, 2004 in Salt Lake City after a brief illness, having endured gracefully till the end, as was her nature.
She was born Nov. 23, 1924 in Standardville, to Nephi Albert and Norah Blanche Memory Lamph. Ruth married Robert Lee Litster, June 28, 1943 in the Manti LDS Temple.
She graduated from North Emery High School where she was active in sports, drama, academics and music. She graduated from Utah State University in elementary education. She retired after 21 years as a Special Ed teacher for Emery County School District, leaving a legacy of service and compassion. As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous capacities. She and her husband served a mission in the St. Louis, Missouri mission and as temple workers in the Manti LDS Temple for more than seven years.
She is survived by children, Emma Lee Larsen of Castle Dale; Mrs. Charles William Goff Jr. (Norah Olene) of Mesa, Ariz.; Robert Leon Litster of Tremonton; Brenda Gay Leonard of Price; nephew, Randy Lamph of Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; foster children, Peggy Fae Parker, Troy Lynn Tucker, in addition to five others. Also survived by brother, Francis Memory Lamph; and sisters, Alice Morine Davis, Anna Maxine Davis and Janet Elizabeth Herzet.
Funeral services will be Tues., June 8, at 11:00 a.m., in the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center, Main and Center Street. The viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery.
Don Wilcox
GREEN RIVER – Don Ray Wilcox, age 78, passed away June 6, 2004 after a courageous 20 year battle with cancer.
Don was born Sept. 24, 1925 in Moab, to Ray “Budge” and Pearl McPherson Wilcox. On Aug. 26, 1953, Don married his best friend, Jeannette Fidell.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Don was a third generation cowboy who grew up working on his parent’s ranch on the East Tavaputs Plateau. In 1941 after selling their ranch to the Ute Indians, he and his family began building a ranch on the West Tavaputs Plateau and Range Creek.
Don loved the cowboying and ranching lifestyle and said, “I was always grateful that my dad needed a cowhand.” He will always be remembered for having exceptional horses, well-bred cattle, and healthy rangeland. Don enjoyed his family and friends and never took their love for granted.
He is survived by loving daughter, Jeanie; and son-in-law, Butch Jensen; beloved and sons, Jon and Jim (Kelly). Grandchildren that knew him as “Poppy” are Tate, Jennie, Emilie, Jesse, and Taylor. Also survived by brother, Waldo (Julie) Wilcox; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ivan and Karen Fidell. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and multitude of great friends. Preceded in death by parents; and wife, Jeannette.
At his request there will be no services. Interment will be in the family plot at Tavaputs Plateau Ranch.
Margaret Hardy
PRICE – Margaret Farnworth Hardy, age 86, passed away May 28, 2004 at Parkdale Care Center.
She was born Jan. 23, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant, to George Q. and Madaline Morley Farnworth. Married Payne Dean Hardy Jan. 14, 1936 in Provo. He died Aug. 30, 1983.
Member of the LDS Church. Margaret was a former longtime resident of Utah County where she worked at the Utah Valley Hospital for many years. She loved gardening, crocheting, crafts and especially camping with her family.
Survived by three daughters and one son, Judy (Merrill) Ivie, Price; Laury Hardy, Erda; Peggy (Donald) Thatcher, Hurricane; Bonnie Clark, LaVerkin; three brothers, Earl (Dorothy) Farnworth, Dean Farnworth, Leo (Mary) Farnworth, all of Orem; sister, ReNee Hewitt, Lindon; special granddaughters, Carol, Gayla, Sue, Ann and Monica; darling great-granddaughters, Camille and Daidee; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, DeAnn Smith; and sister, Mildred Johnson.
Funeral service Fri., June 4, 2 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will will be at Mitchell’s Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Dennis E. Bell
PRICE-Dennis E. “Lucky” Bell, age 75, passed away June 4, 2004 in Price. He was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Atoka, Okla. to Charles B. and Esther Vanderburg Bell.
He was a member of the LDS Church and long-time resident of Carbon County.
He is survived by children: Leonard and Cindy Bell of Cleveland, Dennis R. and Arcillia Bell of Draper, and Dan and Kathrine Bell of Texas; 14 grandchildren and four step-children and Jeanie Scarlet, who thought of him as a father. Preceded in death by parents and brothers Charles Jr. and Clyde Ray.
Graveside service was held Mon. June 7, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
James Pate
HUNTINGTON-James Marlan Pate, age 37, passed away May 30, 2004 in Price. He was born Aug. 25, 1966 in Sturgis, Ky. to Joseph Earl and Joan Lee Sisk Pate.
He was always there to help anyone in need and enjoyed being with his friends. The love of his life, however, was his daughter Kendra.
He is survived by his father, Joe of Kentucky, and his mother and step-father Joan and Ed Harrison and daughter Kendra, all of Huntington, grandmother Irene Sisk of Mortons Gap, Ky., brothers Joey and Jeff of Kentucky and sister Janet of Price.
Funeral services were held Fri. June 4, 2004 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Burial was in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Mortons Gap, Ky., Mon. June 7 under the direction of Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, Ky., where friends met prior to going to the cemetery.
