Mabel Faddis
PRICE/MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at home on Wed., July 28, 2004 in Mission Viejo, Calif. due to natural causes.
She was born to Nephi and Marie Hansen Gunderson Sept. 27, 1911 in Mt. Pleasant, and grew up and resided most of her life in Price. Mabel graduated from Carbon High School and married James Sloan Faddis on Aug. 5, 1930 in Duchesne. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple for time and all eternity on Sept. 27, 1977.
Her priority was her family, but she also enjoyed her job at JC Penney Company, where she worked for 25 years. Following her retirement from JC Penney, Mabel kept active caring for her garden of flowers, crocheting and spending time with her children and their families.
Mabel is survived by son, Larry James Faddis and daughter-in-law, Helen, of Bountiful; daughter, Patricia Faddis Peterson and son-in-law, Sherwood of Lake Forest, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by loving husband, Jimmy on May 24, 1974; her beautiful daughter, Bonnie Faddis Slack on Aug. 29, 1994; four sisters; three brothers; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Mon., Aug. 2, 11 a.m at Mitchell’s Funeral Home, 233 East Main, Price. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Lester Stilson
ST. GEORGE – Lester Clan Stilson, age 75, passed away the July 30, 2004 at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev., from an accidental fall at his home in St. George.
He was born Oct. 30, 1928 in Orangeville to William Lester and Laura Velma Wayman Stilson. He married Beth Billingsley Killian July 21, 1947 in the Manti Temple.
Clan was raised in Emery County. He graduated from South Emery High School in 1947. He loved basketball and stated that sports pulled him through school.
He was a hard worker and excelled in every profession he pursued. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in all his callings responsibly and humbly. His greatest attribute was serving others. He lived his life serving and died in service.
His capacity to love and care for family, friends, neighbors, and strangers was indeed Christlike. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have truly been blessed to be part of his exceptional life. His example is one to be emulated.
Lester Clan Stilson is survived by his wife, Beth, of St. George; children, Phillip (Ruby) Stilson, of Salt Lake City, Colleen (Verlan) Hogue, of Orem, Blaine (Jennie) Stilson, of St. George, Karen (Dan) Peterson, of Salt Lake City, Stuart (Trudi) Stilson, of St. George, Glen (Claire) Stilson, of St. George; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and brother, Kent (Ruth) Stilson, of Orangeville.
He was preceded by his parents, and a sister, Vay Stilson.
Funeral services will be Fri., Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at the St. George 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 166 S. Main, St. George. Visitations will be Thurs. Aug. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary at 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, and Friday from 9-10:30 a.m., prior to services, at the Chapel. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.

Vera Wilson
PRICE – Vera Doleatti Wilson, age 96, died July 28, 2004 at her home in Price.
She was born June 15, 1908 in Sunnyside to Secendo (Joe) and Catherine Panicco Doleatti. Married James E. Wilson Jr., July 6, 1931 in Price. He died Feb. 14, 1992.
Member of the Catholic Church and lifelong resident of Carbon County.
In her earlier days, Vera enjoyed fishing with her husband. She loved the outdoors, especially spending countless hours gardening and caring for her beautiful flowers and yard.
Vera’s true love was for her family and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by son-in-law, John (Jolene) Healy, Glendale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Sherri (John) Wheeler, Mesa, Ariz.; Theresa Woolary, Glendale, Ariz.; Carrie Healy, Price; S. John (Nancy) Healy, Glendale, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; husband; daughter, Dolores W. Healy; brothers, Danny and Tony Doleatti; and sister, Marie McLaughlin.
Funeral service Sat., July 31, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
Cassie Higginbotham
WELLINGTON-Cassie Amber Higginbotham, age 21, passed away July 31, 2004 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born May 6, 1983 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Ray and Annette Winder.
Cassie was above all, a free spirit who loved angels. She would spend every spare minute in the Manti LaSal Mountains, which she dearly loved. More that anything, however, she loved her two little angels Daileny and Tailey. She was a friend to everyone she met and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Cassie is survived by her two daughters, Daileny and Tailey, parents Randy and Annette Winder of Wellington and sisters; Hollie and Dan Peterson, Carrie Higginbotham, Varity and Matt Pettus, Anna and Matt Thomas and Megan and Victor Dunegan, grandmother Stella Reid and many nephews whom she dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held Wed. Aug. 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Castle Dale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Fausett Mortuary or Zions Bank for the care of her two little daughters would be much appreciated.
JD Wilson
HUNTINGTON-JD LeGrand Wilson, age 21, passed away July 30, 2004. He was born Sept. 2, 1982 in Orem, to Bruce and Corinne Stokes Wilson.
JD lived his whole life in Emery County and had a love of the outdoors; snowboarding, skateboarding and helping his grandparents on the farm. He loved his guitar and was an excellent artist. He was also a member of the LDS Church.
He is survived by his parents, brother Shawn and sister Natausha, all of Huntington. Also survived by grandparents; Bevan and FloAnn Wilson of Huntington and Ray Stokes of Salt Lake City and Carol and Kent Pilling of Huntington.
Funeral services will be held Tues. Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Huntington 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Friends called Monday evening at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial in the Huntington City Cemetery.
Marvin Montoya
PRICE – Marvin Montoya, age 65, passed away July 30, 2004 in Provo after a two and half month battle with cancer.
Born March 28, 1939 in Helper to J.U. and Lucy Martinez Montoya. Married Ruth Sanger, she later died. Married Carolyn Black, they later divorced.
Marvin was a longtime resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1957. In his youth, he was very athletic in boxing, basketball, football, and baseball, where he was honored on the legion all-star team for the south league.
Served in the U.S. Army. Marvin worked for various coal mines in Carbon County and Colorado, and was later employed with U.D.O.T. He loved to hunt, fish and was an avid rock collector.
Survived by daughter, Jenny; three sons, Gary, Marty and Scott; brother, Delee Montoya, Kaysville; two sisters, Sherlene Hertzog, Edmonds, Wash.; Merlene Kirkwood, Helper; and five grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Ernest and Robert.
Funeral Mass Wed., Aug. 4, 10 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at St. Anthony’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
