Clyde McConkie Nelson
Born January 6, 1950 in Price, Utah to J. Rulon and Ruth McConkie Nelson; died of a heart attack October 18, 2004 in Burnt Fork, Wyo. doing what he loved most: four-wheeling with his two sons.
To those who knew him, Clyde Nelson was a man who was always happy, always prepared with a joke, and always had a smile a mile wide. He was an Associate Director in Prevention at the Weber County Office of Human Services. He was a wonderful mentor with a thousand stories.
Those who were close to Clyde recognized his unconditional love for his two boys and his zest for adventure and the great outdoors. It is easy to picture him riding his four-wheeler with a huge, child-like grin, with his dog Hank by his side, and with his two sons following closely behind. It is also easy to picture him wearing an umbrella hat, rowing a group of petrified tourists down the wildest of whitewater rapids, screaming, “WAHOO!”
Clyde is survived by his two sons Kaleb and Garet Nelson of Ogden, his mother Ruth M. Nelson, Ferron; his brothers and sisters Monte (Jan) Nelson, West Valley; Sylvia (Gerald) Haycock, Sandy; Beth (Leon) Bogedahl, Torrey; James R. (Lynda) Nelson, Ferron; Anne (Mike) Thompson, Richland, Wash.; Mark (Ruth) Nelson, Ferron; and Keith (Amy) Nelson, Castle Dale. He was preceded in death by his father J. Rulon Nelson and a brother Conrad Nelson.
A celebration of his life was held Oct 23, 2004 at noon at the South Ogden Senior Center, 525 E. 39th Street, Ogden.
Florence Tallerico
PRICE-Florence Nelson Tallerico, age 90, passed away Oct. 20, 2004, in Price. She was born Feb. 6, 1914 in Gunnison to John and Bert Madson Nelson. Married Louie Tallerico on March 27, 1933 in Las Vegas, Nev. He died Feb. 3, 1983. She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.
She enjoyed spending time at the senior citizen center where she made ceramic figurines. Florence and her husband owned and operated Luigi’s Cafe on Price Main Street for many years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survived by her daughters, LouAnn (Gerry) Varner, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mary (Chuck) Ghirardelli, Helper; Jerry (Dixon) Black, Helper; Sandy Kveset, Price; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Newell (Madge) Nelson, Cleveland; sister Ethel Roth, Pico Rivera, Calif. Preceded in death by parents, four sisters, two brothers and grandchild Richard Louie (Little Louie) and son-in-law Rick Kveset.
Funeral mass Sat. Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, and vigil service Friday evening 7 p.m. Mtichell Funeral Home, Price. Committal service Mountain View Cemetery in Helper.
John H. Mahleres
PRICE-John H. Mahleres, age 81, passed away Oct. 21, 2004 in Price. He was born Oct. 22, 1921 in Price to Harry J. and Ourania Sampinos Mahleres. Married Bessie Coleman, Oct. 28, 1945 in Price. She died on April 13, 2002.
Active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church where he was a cantor and a member of G.A.P.A. John was a longtime resident of Carbon County, where he was a self employed rancher and a member of the Wool Growers Association. He was a graduate of Carbon High School.
Survived by son Johnny (Nancy) Mahleres, Price; daughter Renee Sournbeniotis, Reno, Nev.; son-in-law Dr. Jim Sournbeniotis, Reno, Nev.; grandchildren Nicole Mahleres, Price; Elene Sournbeniotis, Reno, Nev.; Michael Sournbeniotis, Chicago, Ill.; sister Sophia M. (Richard) Hayes, Price; brother Nick H. (Helen) Mahleres, Grand Junction, Colo.; also survived by many loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by sister Dea M. Diamanti and brother Angelo Mahleres.
Funeral services were Mon. Oct. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Price. Trisagion service was Sunday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 688, Price, UT 84501.
Jessica Marie Axelgard
PRICE-Jessica Marie Axelgard, the beautiful and loving daughter of Wally and LeAnna Axelgard, passed peacefully on Oct. 18, 2004. She was born May 25, 1979 to Walter T. Jr. and LeAnna C. Axelgard. On this special day she created a life never ending.
Jessica’s creativity made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a special love for children and was generous with her time for them. Her bubbly personality and love for life endeared her to everyone she met.
Jessica had a special kinship with all of God’s creatures, especially her horses and dogs. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors on the back of her horse.
Jessica brought a special spirit wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, no matter the occasion. She grew to be a lovely woman and all who knew her, loved her. A heartfelt thanks to her wonderful friend, Frank.
Survived by parents; grandparents, J. LaMar and Merlin Bishop, Price; June O. Axelgard, Price; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by grandfather, Walter T. Axelgard.
Funeral services were held Oct. 22, 2004 at the Wellington LDS Stake Center, 900 East Main. Family was at Mitchels the previous evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment was in the Wellington City Cemetery, Wellington.
Ramon Martinez
HUNTINGTON-Ramon Martinez, age 76, died Oct. 22, 2004 in Huntington. Ramon was the son of Fred and Teofila Martinez, born Aug. 29, 1928 in Newdale, Idaho. He served as an Army medic in Germany from 1950-1952. He later married Lorraine Jensen of Ferron, April 10, 1954.
Ramon and Lorraine had four children. Ramon served as a member and past president of the Lions Club, as a member of the American Legion, as the mayor of Huntington City for eight years, and was a retired Utah Highway Patrolman, having served 20 years on the force. Ramon was most happy when his children and grandchildren were happy. He loved spoiling his grandkids and helping those who were in need.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Evone (Richard) Pope of Pennsylvania, Nancy Martinez and Jackie (Tab) Weihing, both of Huntington; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers, Fred Martinez and Ben Martinez, both of Carbon County. Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Ramon Martinez.
Funeral services will be held Tues. Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Huntington Stake Center. Friends called at the Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale on Monday evening. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church. Interment in Huntington Cemetery.
Amelia Guadagnoli
PRICE-Loving mother of five generations, Mary Amelia Russo Guadagnoli, age 96, passed away Oct. 21, 2004 in Price. She was born July 22, 1908 in Trinidad, Colo. to John and Angelina Milano Russo. Married Antonio Guadagnoli, Oct. 21, 1922 in Sunnyside. He died Jan. 23, 1989.
Member Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church and the Notre Dame Quilting Guild.
Survived by daughters, Beverly Pace, Grand Junction, Colo.; Venice Golden, Elmo; Rose Marie Guadagnoli, Springville; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Russo and Andy Russo; sister Yolanda Felice, all of Kelowna, B.C., Canada.

Walter Morgan Donaldson
PRICE-Walter Morgan Donaldson passed away Oct. 20, 2004 in Price. He was born March 17, 1920 in Ogden to Walter Robert Donaldson and Mary Morgan. He married Connie LeBaron in the St. George Temple on March 2, 1946 and they had 15 children.
He grew up in the coal camps of Carbon County and worked at the mines of Castle Gate, Royal, Rains, Latuda, Standardville, and Spring Canyon.
In his youth, he was a member of dance bands in several western states. He was an avid hunter and gun buff. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, all of his life, serving as Bishop of Price 2nd Ward in the North Carbon Stake. He was a local agent for State Farm insurance Company for 43 years.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the 145th Field Artillery Band and in the United States Army-Air Force in the Pacific Area.
His entire married life was devoted to attempting to raise a good family.
He is survived by his wife Connie and children: Connie (Brent) Barker, Walter (Claudia) Donaldson, Mary Dawn (Kent) Shorts, David (Debbie) Donaldson, Barbara (Burke) Torgerson, Gwen, Brady (Becky) Donaldson, Casey, Debbie, Scott (Doris) Donaldson, Tracy (Paul) Hofer, Joe (Kristy) Donaldson, Chris (Audra) Donaldson, Kelly (Kelly) Donaldson; 55 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, daughter Joan, grandson Darin Shorts, sisters Mary and Doris, brothers Don and Scott.
Services were held Sat., Oct. 23 at the Price Utah North Stake Center under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
