Canyon View Junior High hosted the Castle Valley Activity Association Girls Varsity Volleyball Tournament in Huntington. The Mont Harmon Pirates won the championship as they defeated Canyon View in three games. The San Rafael Bulldogs took third and the Helper Rams finished fourth.
Canyon View defeated the Bulldogs in the opening round 25-21, 25-14, 14-16, 11-15 and 15-12. Mont Harmon defeated Helper 25-13, 25-19 and 15-9.
Canyon View then lost to the Pirates in three games while San Rafael sent Helper packing with a win in four games. Canyon View then sent the Bulldogs home with a victory in four games. Mont Harmon then defeated the Cougars for the championship.

Coach Bill Wright of Canyon View had this to say, “Mont Harmon had the best defense and deserved to win. The Pirates are well coached and they play as a team. I’m proud of my girls as they gave it their all today. ShiAnne Allred had a big day today and led our team in kills.”
Playing for Canyon View were ninth graders Holly Hatch, Madison Jensen, Allie Jo Stokes, Lacie Ward, Billie Jean Reed and Bailey Kay. Allred and Adriane Weihing are eighth graders. Assisting Coach Wright is Misti Bagley.
Playing for San Rafael were ninth graders Rebekah Bott, CarolAnn Snow, Leslee Lake and Chelsea Skinner. Eighth graders are Lacey Montgomery, Jodi Robertson and Sierra Bridgewater. Coaches are Layne Hales and Terry Seeley.
This was the first loss of the tournament in years for Canyon View. Coach Wright can only remember one other loss in the last 20 years or so.
