Bill Estrada, one of the miners that had been on strike against the C.W. Mining Company until this summer stands in front of the Mine Safety and Health Administration building in Price on Monday morning addressing a number of workers, United Mine Workers supporters, the press and other interested parties concerning a number of issues at the mine.
Workers allege that the company is violating safety regulations by mining too far into coal seams without properly bolting the roof of the excavation. After the meeting they then went into the MSHA office and presented their case to officials.
The miners also voiced concerns about other issues at the mine during the meeting having to do with the upcoming union vote the workers will soon participate in. A recent decision by the National Labor Relations Board ruled that those related to the Kingstons, the mines owners, may not vote in the election.
