As you are aware, Dec. 19 marks the 20th anniversary of the Wilberg mine disaster when we tragically lost 27 of our brothers, sister and coworkers.
We are planning a Remembrance Memorial the afternoon and evening of Dec. 19, beginning at the Emery High School, at 4 p.m., with several speakers, UMWA President Cecil Roberts, Congressman Jim Matheson and others. There will be a light meal after the services and we will then proceed to the monument at the junction of Highways 29 and 57 (weather permitting) for another brief service.
We welcome everyone and our membership to attend these services to show respect for our fallen.
