Ben R. Reddington
HELPER-Ben R. Reddington, age 84, passed away Jan. 18, 2005.
He was born March 12, 1920 in Provo to B.N. and Edith Meneray Reddington. Married Mary Arline Reid on March 3, 1941 in Latuda, Utah. She died Nov. 3, 2002.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County. He was an Honorary Life Member Price Elks Lodge #1550 and a member of the Slovenian Home of Spring Glen.
After 44 years of dedicated service, Ben retired as Yard Master at Helper D&RGW. He was a member of the Yard Master Union.
Ben was an umpire for Little League and Pony League and played softball with the Helper Railroad Team. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survived by his children; Dorothy (Dan) LaRoy, Las Vegas, Nev.; Ray (Leatrice) Reddington, Wellington; Bob Reddington, Florida; Harry (Pam) Reddington; Helper; Edyth Blair, Helper; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 21, 2005 at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
Richard Lee Crissman
“Gone Fishing”
WELLINGTON-Richard Lee Crissman, age 54, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family and friends on Jan. 16, 2005.
He was born on March 19, 1950 in Standardville, to William and Betty Pessetto Crissman. Married Brenda Mangus, April 27, 1974 in Price; later divorced.
Lifelong resident of Carbon county. Graduate of Notre Dame High School, College of Eastern Utah and later attended Weber State College.
“Dick” was presently employed with Crown Technologies. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Powell, going to sporting events and spending time with family and friends.
Survived by his son, Creed Crissman and special friend Chantelle Jensen; father, William J. Crissman, Price; sister Carol (Jack) Bonaquisto, Price; brothers, Bill (Leilani) Crissman; John Crissman (Lori Montgomery); sister, Gina (Jeremy) Evans, all of Salt Lake City; special fishing buddy, Ray Coleman; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Crissman.
Memorial service held on Jan. 22, at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Elsie Pearson Cochrane
PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother and sister, Elsie Georgine Pearson Cochrane, age 87, passed away Jan. 17, 2005 in Price, while surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 12, 1917 in Scofield, to George Wagstaff and Elsie Frost Pearson. Married John Cochrane, March 3, 1940 in Farmington; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Oct. 4, 1958. John passed away on Sept. 4, 1972.
Elsie was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions in cluding; president, first and second counselor of the primary, a Beehive, Mia Maid and Laurel leader, as well as first counselor in the Young Women, Cub Scout den mother, Relief Society president and homemaking leader. She also worked with the singles on both the ward and stake levels.
Elsie was blessed with a beautiful voice and she sang in many duets, trios and with the “Singing Mothers” on numerous programs. She was a gifted artist and has done many oil paintings and wonderful pieces in ceramics. As a fine seamstress, she loved making clothing for herself and her family. She also enjoyed re-upholstering, draperies and quilts. Elsie took great care and pride in her beautiful flowers and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survived by two daughters and one son, Linda (Max) Funk, Price; Janice (Chuck) Lepper, Idaho Falls, Idaho; John (Kathy) Cochrane, Eagle Mountain; sister, Mona Nielson, St. George; brother, George (RaeDell) Pearson, Elmo; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, sons, Ronald Kent and Larry Ray Cochrane; grandson, Gary Funk; sisters, Rosella, Elizabeth Jumper Huff and Naomi Stones Scarpella.
Funeral service was held on Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Price Fourth Ward LDS Chapel. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Darrell Earl Stewart
PRICE-Darrell Earl Stewart, age 48, passed away Jan. 21, 2005 at his home in Spring Glen, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with MS and leukemia. He was born Oct. 26, 1956 in Payson to Ronald and Ruth Hiatt Stewart. He married Salley Ann Olson March 18, 1976 in Santaquin, later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.
He loved life and being with his family. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports, basketball being his favorite. He coached for 11 years at Carbon High School but the job he loved the most was coaching his own children.
He is survived by his loving wife Salley of Spring Glen and his children and their spouses: Kellie and Brian Thomas of Tooele, Kara and David Zwahlen of St. George, Tiffany and James Swasey of Price, Cassie and Michael Gledhill of Vernal, Elder Bryan Darrell Stewart, (currently serving in the Chile, Santiago North Mission), Amie and Allie Stewart, both of Spring Glen and eight grandchildren. Also survived by his parents of Payson, two brothers; Douglas Stewart and Gary Stewart of Orem and two sisters; Rhonda Aragon of Syracuse and Melanie Orton also of Payson.
Funeral services will be held Wed. Jan. 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Helper LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Cliff View Cemetery in Price.
Irene Lucille Jensen
EMERY-Irene Lucille Jensen, age 84, was called home on Jan. 17, 2005 in Ferron. She was born Jan. 24, 1920 in Lehi to Ray and Irene Forbes Carter. She married Alten Jensen March 25, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. She was a very dedicated wife and mother who served faithfully in her church callings. She excelled in home making skills, cooking, quilting, gardening and canning.
Lucille is survived by her husband Alten of Emery, daughter Janet Booth of Cheyenne Wyo., and sons Joel Jensen of Emery and Drew Jensen of Bremerton, Wash.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by one brother Vivian Carter of Lehi.
Funeral services were held Sat. Jan. 22, 2005 at noon in the Emery LDS Chapel where friends called one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Geneva Black
CLEVELAND-Mark Fielding Huntsman, the infant son of Troy and Christine Fielding Huntsman, returned to his Father in Heaven, Jan. 24, 2005. He was born Aug. 18, 2004 in Price.
Mark is survived by his parents; sisters, Brittany, 8, Nicole, 6, Aubrey, 5; and brother Michael, 3, all of Cleveland; grandparents Mike and Camille Huntsman of Ferron and Ronald and Elouise Fielding of Orem; great-grandparents Robert and Adonna Patch of Orem, and Nora K. Huntsman of Pleasant Grove.
Graveside services will be held Wed. Jan. 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Cleveland City Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Cleveland LDS Chapel prior to services.
Geneva Black
GREEN RIVER, UTAH-GREENFIELD, N.H.-Charles “Shep” Burrage, age 54, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 19, 2005. He was born Jan. 10, 1951 in Jaffrey, N.H. to Charles D. and Shirley Burrage. Shep married Linda Berube Sept. 13, 1975 in Connecticut, making their home in Greenfield, N.H., where he worked in law enforcement. He was elected to Chief of Police in Greenfield and served in that position from 1976-1986. During that time he was also a member of the Greenfield Fire Dept. as well as Selectman (city councilman) for the town of Greenfield. He also served as a lieutenant in the Francestown, N.H. Police Dept.
In 1991, Shep and Linda moved to Green River where they owned and operated United Campground for the past 14 years. During that time he was the driver for the Green River Ambulance Service. During that time they became very loved by the people of Green River, by whom he will be dearly missed.
Shep is survived by his wife Linda of Green River and son Charles Casey Burrage of Yarmouth, Maine, and daughter Kelly Burrage of Gardner, Mass. Also survived by his mother Shirley Burrage of Jaffrey, N.H. and sister Pamela Abbott of Milford, N.H. Preceded in death by his father.
