Orangeville Animal Licenses


Orangeville animal licenses for 2005 are due by Feb. 28. A rabies clinics will be held at the Orangeville Fire Station Feb. 19 from 9 a.m.-noon. Obtaining a license after Feb. 28 will result in a late fee of $25.

Little League Wrestling


Junior Spartan Little League Wrestling is having an organizational meeting Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. in the Canyon View Junior High band room. Anyone interested in organizing or coaching is encouraged to attend. Coaches are desperately needed for this season to happen. Contact Ferd Allred 687-2370.

Pioneer Museum Hours


New hours for the Pioneer Museum are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and Saturday noon-4 p.m. Share your pioneer heritage with family and friends.

Emery High P/T/S Conference


Emery High parent/teacher/student conference will be held Feb. 17 at the high school media center from 3-9 p.m. Mid-term progress reports will be handed out to students on Feb. 16. Copies will also be available for parents at PTS conference.

DUP District Conference


Emery/Carbon County Companies of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their Annual District Convention on March 12 at the Museum of the San Rafael, Castle Dale. Book Sales begin at 8 a.m.; officers meeting at 9 a.m.; and general meeting at 10:15 a.m. Luncheon (cost $5.50) will be served. Guest Speakers will be Lou Jean Wiggins and Carol Buchmiller of DUP International. Emery County Company will host the event. Days of ’47 Entries Sought


Nominees are being sought for annual Pioneers of Progress Awards. These awards salute the six individuals who embody the best of Utah’s pioneering heritage and spirit. Any current Utah resident, of any age, can be nominated in these categories: science and technology; business enterprise; education, health; humanitarian; historical and creative arts; sportsmanship and athletics; and posthumous legacy. Scouting Expo


A new name for the Scout-A-Rama is Scouting Expo. All scouts and cub scouts are welcome to participate. It’s not too late to sign up for a booth, contact Laren Huntsman at 381-5445. The cub scouts will be around to sell tickets. The public is also welcome to attend. Bring your families and have a lot of fun on March 12 from 9 a.m.-noon in the Emery High old gym.

Castle Dale Book Fair


Castle Dale Elementary book fair will be held Feb. 23-25. The open house will be on Feb. 23 from 6:30-8 p.m. The fair will be during school hours Feb. 23-25.

Huntington Elementary Kindergarten Registration


Kindergarten registration for Huntington Elementary School will be held Feb. 28 from 8 a.m.-noon. Those with last names beginning with A-I come from 9-10 a.m., names beginning with J-R come from 10-11 a.m., and names beginning with S-Z come from 11 a.m.-noon.

Eagle Scout Requests Donations


Zac Smith, a scout from Huntington, is making school and hygiene kits for the humanitarian aid project for the tsunami victims as his Eagle Scout project. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Eyeglasses for Lions Club


The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lang at 687-5349.

Power Wheelchairs


The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-246-6010.

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area.
