Restoration Celebration


The restoration celebration for the Huntington First Ward will be held on March 15 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner, displays and a program will be presented. Everyone welcome.

Video at Desert Edge Christian Chapel


A video presentation at Desert Edge Christian Chapel entitled Hell’s Best Kept Secret will be held on March 13 at 5:45 p.m. This begins a six week series and discussions will follow the videos.

Ferron Easter Egg Hunt


The Ferron Youth City Council will host an Easter Egg Hunt on March 22 at 4:30 p.m. Children 1-12 are welcome to participate. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Church Park located at the corner of State and Mill Roads. The youth council encourages participants to bring one can of food to donate towards their food drive. Emery County Historical Society


Emery County Historical Society’s general meeting for March will be held on Wed. March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael in Castle Dale. Author JoAnne Arnold, formerly of Orangeville, will be the guest speaker. She will talk about her book that is out, and her new book, which will be coming out shortly. Shawn Tomsich will provide musical entertainment.

A Swell Cure for Cabin Fever


The SouthEastern Utah Off Highway Vehicle Club will hold its annual spring poker ride, A Swell Cure for Cabin Fever, on March 19. Starting time will be from 8 a.m.-noon. The ride will be held 20 miles east of Castle Dale, follow the signs.

Womens Leadership Conference

4-H Photos


A fund raising project will be family photos sponsored by 4-H. The photos will be taken April 1-3 at the county building, 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale, Room 218. The 4-H youth need your support. For more information call the Extension Office at 381-2381.

Defensive Driving Course

Scholarships For Seniors


Each year, several $1000 scholarships are awarded to Utah high school seniors by the Utah Association of Independent Insurance Agents (UAIIA) and the Utah Chapter of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU). All majors will be considered, but preference will be given to business and insurance students. Financial needs will also be considered. Scholarship applications can be downloaded from www.uaiia.org and must be received at the UAIIA offices in Salt Lake City no later than March 31.

AA and NA Meetings


AA and NA meetings will begin the second week in March. These meetings will be held at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. AA will be Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. NA meetings will be Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Cleveland Easter Egg Hunt


The Cleveland Elmo youth town councils will sponsor this years Easter egg hunt on March 19 at noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. Bring your baskets and don’t miss the fun in Cleveland. It’s fun, it’s free, and everybody gets a prize. Don’t be late, we start promptly at noon. FSA and other Agencies are Moving


Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Castleland RC&D Council, and Utah Association of Conservation Districts offices have moved to new office space located at 1120 North Des-Bee-Dove Road in Castle Dale as of Feb. 28. These offices can be reached at 435-381-2300.

Scouting Expo


The public is welcome to attend the Scouting Expo at the Emery High School on March 12 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be booths, activities and the Pinewood Derby. Support the local scouting program by attending and participating.

Scrapbook Expo


A scrapbook expo will be held March 12 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation building in Castle Dale. Bring your own paper cutter, adhesive and a lot of friends. Open crop space available for a small fee. Come visit booths and make your favorite layouts.

Pioneer Museum Hours


New hours for the Pioneer Museum are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and Saturday noon-4 p.m. Share your pioneer heritage with family and friends.

DUP District Conference


Emery/Carbon County Companies of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their Annual District Convention on March 12 at the Museum of the San Rafael, Castle Dale. Book Sales begin at 8 a.m.; officers meeting at 9 a.m.; and general meeting at 10:15 a.m. Luncheon (cost $5.50) will be served. Guest Speakers will be Lou Jean Wiggins and Carol Buchmiller of DUP International. Emery County Company will host the event. Emery County Youth Leadership Councils


Emery County Youth Leadership councils are sponsoring a food drive and humanitarian drive to help the Utah Food Bank fill the shelves back up and help those victims of disasters with clothes. This is where we need you. Bring your food items to your city hall or to your elementary school and there you will find a box to drop off your items. This is a service project for our youth leadership conference to be held April 16. We are trying to see which city can collect the most of these items so ready…set…bring on the drive. Help your YCC be the best. This drive will run from Feb. 1-April 16. We are hoping to have so much food that the Utah Food Bank has to bring down big trucks to take it back and also that the news stations will have to come to Emery County for our great deed. Give a little…help a little…we need you.

Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Eyeglasses for Lions Club
