EAST CARBON-Anna Fern Johnson, age 92, passed away March 23, 2005 in Price. She was born July 12, 1912 in Fairview to Lyman Ray and Anna Dora Christensen Cox. She married Eldred Allen Johnson May 9, 1931, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Fern loved and excelled at all kinds of crafts, crocheting, quilting, cake decorating, ceramics, dollmaking and painting. She and her family spent many happy camping experiences in Huntington Canyon. Her family was her most cherished possession.,
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Joyce Jones of East Carbon; Remona and Joe Amar of Oregon; LaRay and Ted Chidester of East Carbon; Hal E. and Kolleen Johnson of Joe’s Valley; and Barry J. and Louise Johnson of Cedar City; 35 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 41 great-great-grandchildren with three more on the way. Also survived by brothers Clyde Ray Cox, Loyal Cox and sisters Opal Webb and Myrle Elwood. Preceded in death by her husband Eldred, grandson Gale Allen Jones, and great-grandson Tyler Dee Christiansen, brother Dean Cox and sister June Pollett.
Funeral services were held Mon. March 28, at 11 a.m. at the East Carbon LDS Church. Viewing was held Sunday evening at Fausett Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial with a short service was held at the Huntington Cemetery.

Brody Talbot


ELMO/SPANISH FORK-Brody LeRoy Talbot, 32 of Elmo and Spanish Fork, died March 21, 2005 at his home in Elmo. Born Dec. 22, 1972, he is the son of Arlynn and Jeanette Talbot of Spanish Fork; and Darla Butler of Spanish Fork. He married Valerie Holm Aug. 14, 1992. They have two children: Kiley, 9, and Devin, 6.
Brody enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was seldom seen without his camouflage. He moved to Elmo in 2003 to be closer to his grandma, Jessie May Winder, who raised him as a child. He loved being able to help her with the cows.Living in Elmo gave him even more time to hunt and be with his family.
Survivors include wife, Valerie Talbot; children, Kiley and Devin Talbot of Elmo; Parents, Arlynn and Jeanette of Spanish Fork; Darla Butler of Spanish Fork; in-laws, Clarence “Butch” and Darlene Holm of Palmyra; siblings, Sherland Talbot and Shelley Talbot of Spanish Fork; Chris Haney of Salt Lake City; Tina and Russ Herbert of Nephi; Deone and Travis Wall of Santaquin; Justin and Jana Holm of Mapleton; Carrie and Adam Dalley of Springville; grandparents, Jessie May and the late Floyd Winder of Elmo; Basil and Geri Talbot of Benjamin; George and Lois Haney of Salem; AnnaDell and the late Clarence “Bud” Holm of Spanish Fork; Ted and the late DoraJean Anderson of Provo; seven nephews and five nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Floyd LeRoy Winder; stepfather, Randy (Shorty) Butler; grandmother, Barbara Haney; and grandmother DoraJean Anderson. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services were held Fri. March 25, 11 a.m. at the Benjamin LDS Ward Chapel, 3278 West 7300 South. Interment in the Benjamin Cemetery.

Wan Jorgensen


Wanless Jorgensen, age 77, passed away Tues. March 22, 2005 at his home in Nikiski, Alaska. He was born March 30, 1927 in Emery. He married Colleen Singleton Oct. 5, 1943 in Wellington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
Wan attended South Central County High School and furthered his education by studying electrical engineering in Wenatchee, Wash. and electronics at Hill Air Force Base. He entered the US Army and served during WWII until he was honorably discharged. Wan worked for the IBEW on various electrical projects in China, Caribbean Islands, Greenland, and throughout the United States. Some of the projects in Alaska include the White Alice Defense Sites, Electrical Superintendent of Unocal Construction and the Alyeska Pipeline Construction. He retired from the IBEW in the late 1970s. Wan moved to Nikiski in 1959 and was a member of the American Legion Post 20 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wan enjoyed restoring older cars, woodworking and bible study.
The family wrote “Wan relished in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and develop. He looked forward to family gatherings, the occasional drop-in and telling a good story. Wan was an inspiration to many people in the community. In his later years he endeavored to promote jobs and economic development in the wood products industry. Wan was a very spiritual man, he was devoted in the word of God. His desire was to share the knowledge of the bible and his faith with his family and friends. Wan was devoted to his wife, Colleen. He will be dearly missed.”
Wan was preceded in death by his father John Jorgensen, mother Jenny Jorgensen, and 14 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Colleen Jorgensen of Nikiski, Alaska; daughters, Sammie Dillard of Pahrump, Nev. and Eleanore Huntsman, Nikiski, Alaska; sons, Creig, Dale, and Gale, all of Nikiski; foster sons, Robert, Dale, Jimmy, and Kenny Lewis; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Hansen of Emery and Donna Hughs of Boise, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Sat. March 26, 2005 in Alaska. Additional services will be held at the Ferron Stake Center on Wed. March 30, 2005 at noon at the Ferron LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial in the Ferron Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Arrangements in Alaska were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.

Mal Berg Oveson


Our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mal Berg Oveson, passed away peacefully at 3 p.m. on Mon., March 21, at the age of 101 years. She was born on Dec. 26, 1903, in Castle Dale, the fifth of seven children born to Carl Rasmus and Martha Amalia Ungerman Berg.
Our mother grew up in Castle Dale surrounded by family and friends and experienced all the joys and trials of a childhood in a small Utah farming community. She graduated from the Emery Stake Academy, worked for a year in Salt Lake City for the telephone company in what she described as a “learning experience,” and then attended Brigham Young University where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school in Emery County for three years and then married our father, Merrill M. Oveson, on Sept. 7, 1927. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and left the next day by train for Oregon where Dad entered graduate school at Oregon State College. They resided in Oregon for the next 39 years and raised their four children there.
Mother was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as president of the Primary and the Relief Society in Pendleton, Ore., and as stake Relief Society president in the Union Stake for five years. After Dad’s retirement, they served a mission together in the Southern States, and she then accompanied Dad to Jordan and Turkey where he directed wheat research projects. Dad passed away in 1981, leaving Mother a widow for the next 24 years.
Mother is survived by four children, Richard M. (Alix) Oveson, Martha Joan Heath (Dan) Talbot, Stephen B. (Dixie) Oveson, and Mary Louise (Ted) Stoddard, 16 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Uwin VanBuren. She leaves behind a legacy of service to her family, her community, and the Church of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill; a son-in-law, Lawrence T. Heath; a grandson, Jason Berg Oveson; her brother, Arnold Berg; and her sisters, Atlanta Zwahlen, Vera Duzett, Leona Campbell, and Cora Berg.
A viewing was held at the Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Provo, on Sun., March 27, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Mon., March 28, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at 4000 North Foothill Drive (1000 East) in Provo, with a viewing at 10 a.m. at the chapel. Interment in the Castle Dale City Cemetery.

Dick Keller


PRICE-Richard (Dick) William Keller, age 46, passed away peacefully at his home on Wed. March 23, 2005. Born Jan. 18, 1959 in Tucson, Ariz. to Richard W. and Paula Hemphill Keller.
Dick married Kelly Colosimo and together they had a son, Louis Keller. He was also married to Stacey Johnson and together they had three daughters, Melanie, Monica and Michelle. Graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1977 where he played football and was a competitive wrestler. Member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Price. He also enjoyed his friends and loved helping those in need. But most of all, Dick loved working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Dick was “always willing to lend a helping hand to all who knew him.” Dick always loved his children and they were his greatest passion. To his brothers and sisters, he was “our” constant friend and will be forever missed. No matter what obstacles came his way, Dick proved time and again to be a “true” survivor and that is how he will be remembered.
Survived by his three daughters, Melanie, Monica and Michelle; stepfather, Robert Belich of Mesquite, Nev.; three brothers, Stephen Keller of Elkhart, Ind.; Dennis and Violet Keller of Rock Strings, Wyo.; Joe and Gina Keller of Price; two sisters, Karen Belich of Arizona; Bobby and Stacey Moon of Rawlins, Wyo.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Keller, Sr.; mother Paula Belich; and son, Louis Keller.
Funeral mass Tues. March 29, 2005, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening, Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dick would want your contributions to go to either Notre Dame Catholic Church or your favorite charity.

Don Harmon


Don Michael Harmon passed away peacefully on March 15, 2005, at home with his family after battling cancer. He was born Dec. 15, 1947 in Price to Brigham Franklin and Eveline Jane (Holden) Harmon. He married Ileen Gordon on March 3, 1973 in Huntington and was later sealed in the Manti Temple.
Mike graduated from CHS in 1966. He enlisted in the US Navy, and retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years. He volunteered at Grandview Elementary.
Mike loved the outdoors, family and golf. He served in many capacities in the LDS Church. He is a devote husband, father, and grandfather.
Mike is survived by his wife; children Nicole (David) Brittain of Orem, Shawn Michael (Sara) Harmon of Clinton, Lanette (Patrick) Draper, and Ryan Philip Harmon, both of Provo; six grandchildren; three siblings, P.T. (Lavone) Harmon of San Antonio, Sondra (Doyle) Buckwalter of Orem, and Linda (Harold) Martin of San Francisco. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Barbara Francis Harmon.
Funeral services were held Sat. March 19, 2005 at the LDS Chapel, 1120 North 850 West, Provo. Interment in the Provo City Cemetery.
