Shooters load their guns and shoot at the paper targets.

The BookCliff Muzzleloaders club gathered at the Buckhorn Draw for its annual black powder shoot. Shooters from Emery and Carbon counties and throughout the state spent three days shooting black powder rifles, shot guns and pistols. They threw tomahawks and knives and a mountain man run was held. Friday night a team shoot was held where a four person team shot at charcoal briquettes, spoons, strings and poker chips and when they had shot all those items they had to shoot their way through a two by four piece of wood.
They shot paper targets as well as metal gongs. Two Huntington shooters took first place honors at the competition. Mike Juggert was the top male shooter in the aggregate and Cathy Gunter was the top lady shooter. The top shooters received handmade wooden shooting boxes. All shooters received a prize and picked their prize off the blanket when their shooting number was called. Seventy-one shooters competed in the event.
