Jerica Jensen pitches for Emery.

The first round of the 3-A State Tournaments for baseball and softball will be held this weekend at the home fields of the four region champions.
The Emery boys have qualified for the tournament but are waiting for their destination. Emery is currently third in region play and Delta is fourth but each have a game remaining. Emery is at Lehi and Delta plays North Sanpete to close out the season. Delta has won the tie breaking coin flip.
If Emery finishes third, they will travel to either Uintah High in Vernal or Wasatch High in Heber City. Those schools finished tied for first and will flip a coin for seeding.
If Emery finishes fourth, they will travel to St. George and play at Snow Canyon High School.
The Emery girls have a play-in game today, Tuesday, at the Spanish Fork ball complex against Delta. The winner travels to St. George to play and the loser stays home.
Delta and Emery split their games this season with each winning at home.
At each host school will be four teams, a first, second, third and fourth place teams. Each team will play two games on Saturday. You must win at least one to travel to state the next week.
Last week Emery lost to Delta in baseball 10-5 and in softball 7-2. Errors contributed to the losses as the boy’s had five and the girls had four.
In baseball, Kade Jones, Trevor Thompson and AJ Mitcheson each hit a double and Spencer Cook hit a homerun.
In softball, Adrian McNee had a double for one of Emery’s two hits for the day.
