Program Available to Improve Wildlife Habitat

The Natural Resource Conservation Service, in partnership with the Colorado River Salinity Control Forum, local Soil Conservation Districts, and RC&D Councils in Eastern Utah, has funds available to improve wildlife habitat through the Basin States Parallel Program. Private landowners, groups of landowners, and state and local government entities are eligible to apply.
Eligible projects will target streamside riparian habitats of cottonwood, willow, native shrub vegetation, tall grass and forb areas, and wetlands. Priority for funding will be given to projects that are below 7,000 feet in elevation and located within drainages of the; Strawberry River, Upper and Lower Duchesne River, Ashley Creek, Brush Creek, the Green River, Price River, Nine Mile Creek, Huntington Creek, Cottonwood Creek, Ferron Creek and Muddy Creek.
Project proposals may be cost shared at a rate determined by the project sponsors. Project proposals may include the purchase of conservation easements, and may be leveraged with other funds and grants from other conservation organizations.

Proposals must be submitted by close of business on May 31.
