Emergency loans end May 16

By By

Farmers/ranchers in Emery and Carbon counties who suffered production losses because of drought may now apply for Farm Service Agency emergency loans, FSA farm loan officer, Lori Brady said. The disaster designation makes all qualified family-sized farm operators eligible for low-interest emergency loans from FSA.
Farmers/ranchers who suffered qualifying production losses due to drought conditions occurring January 2004, and continuing, may apply. Loans are currently at a reduced interest rate of 3.75 percent. The maximum loan cannot exceed $500,000.
Farmers/ranchers who feel they are eligible may apply for assistance at the Emery/Carbon office. Each application will be considered on its own merits, taking into account the extent of losses, security available, repayment ability, and other eligibility requirements. The deadline for accepting applications is May 16.
Farmers/ranchers are urged to file their applications as early as possible to speed loan approval and processing.
