Memorial Day Services
The American Legion Post 73 will present Memorial Day services for the following cemeteries: Elmo-9:45 a.m.; Cleveland-10:30 a.m.; Lawrence-11:15 a.m.; and Huntington-Noon. The new memorial monuments will be presented, and the American Legion will do a full Memorial Day ceremony at each cemetery, including the flag ceremony, firing weapons, and the sounding of Taps. Blake Jones will do the Ragged Ole Flag. Everyone is welcome to come out and honor the veterans.
Graduation Celebration
A graduation celebration will be held on May 26 from 9 p.m.-2:30 a.m. in the old gym. All high school students are welcome to attend. Many games and activities are planned. Tickets on sale at Emery High School office.
Country Gospel Artist
Country gospel artist, Wayne Wipf, will perform and preach at Desert Edge Community Chapel, 500 South Main Street, Huntington, on May 15. All are welcome to attend. Worship service begins at 10 a.m.,
Canyon View Closing Program
The closing program honoring the ninth grade class at Canyon View Junior High School will be held May 20 at 6 p.m. in the school gynasium. Students, family and friend are welcome to attend the program. Following the program, a dance for Canyon View students in good academic and citizenship standing will be held from 7-10 p.m.
Stamp Out Hunger
Utah postal workers will again be holding their Stamp Out Hunger food drive. In our area, donations can be placed in boxes provided in the lobbies of the post offices. Donations will be accepted throught May 14.
Castle Country Horse Show Association
The Castle Country Horse Show Association schedule is: May 14, Price; June 4, Castle Dale; June 18, Price; July 16, Castle Dale; Aug. 14, Price; and Sept. 17, Castle Dale. Cleveland Car Wash
The main fund raiser for the Cleveland Fire Department is the annual car wash. It will be held May 14 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Cleveland Fire Station. Come support your volunteer firemen.
Attention Veterans
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Department Service Office will be at the Price Workforce Service Center from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on May 12. This is a free service.

Black Top Knight will be held in Castle Dale May 27 beginning at 6 p.m. The events will be held on 100 North and 100 East.
Volunteers Needed

Miss Heritage Days Scholarship Pageant
The Miss Heritage Days scholarship pageant will be held June 30. Girls ages 1-24 are wanted in six different age groups. Every contestant will receive cash or prizes. Emery’s Pioneer Day Celebration
Emery will once again be honoring July 24 with a celebration. We had such a wonderful response to our arts, crafts, and food booths last year that we are inviting everyone to participate againg this year. Set up your booth or table and sell your wares. There is no charge. Just call the Emery Town Office at 286-2417 to register your booth or table so we will know how many to expect. Ask your friends and neighbors to join in the fun. It’s a great place to sell your products and have a good time doing it.
Food Handler’s Classes
There will be a food handler’s classes for all persons working in food serving establishments. The classes will be taught in Price on May 17 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. at the Southeastern Utah District Health Department, 28 South 100 East. Classes will also be taught in Castle Dale on May 19 at 4 and 7 p.m., at the health department located at 25 West Main Street. Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 4-6. Large crowds expected. Security will be provided 24 hours a day, so daily load out is not required. Project ChildSafe
Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.

Utah Humanities Council Road Scholar
Requesting a free speaker from the Utah Humanities Council is easy. Log on to www.utahhumanities.org/programs at least one month prior to the proposed event and complete the request form. Following the program, an evaluation must be filled out.
AA and NA Meetings

Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
