Adriana Cordova from Green River High places first in state in the javelin. |
The Emery Spartan track teams made huge strides this year as they recruited more participants and were deeper and better in almost every event. In the end though, it still came down to Bruce Clement and Camille Fehlberg to score the points at the State Tournament.
In the two-day affair held at BYU, Fehlberg had a great meet as she won the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and finished fourth in the long jump.
Bruce Clement, Emery, wins back to back state championships in the discus throw at BYU. He also places sixth in the javelin and third in the shot put. |
Clement repeated his performance from last season and again won the discus throw. Clement also finished third in the shot put and finished sixth in the javelin.
The Emery boys finished 10th with 22 points and the girls finished ninth with 25 points.
Although no other Emery girl placed in the meet, the boys did have a couple of other placers. Zac Clement, a younger brother of Bruce, finished eighth in the javelin and Travis Bunderson finished seventh in the high jump.
Adriana Cordova finished first in the javelin for Green River. Brent Johnson finished fifth in the 3200 meters and Hyrum Mitchell finished seventh in the 3200 meters.
