On May 21, volunteers met at the new OHV staging area on the Muddy Creek to complete the project. Off road enthusiasts came from Salt Lake City, Duchesne, and Emery and Carbon counties to install posts surrounding the staging area, and install and paint the sign.
They represented SouthEastern Utah Off Highway Vehicle Club, Carbon County Off Highway Vehicle Club, Ridge Runner Motorcycle Club, and the forest service and state parks.
The forest service and the state parks department supplied the funding through grant money gathered from a portion of the registration fees garnered from the recreational vehicles. “The funding is on a 50/50 basis,” said Bill Broadbear. “The requirement is that 5 percent of that come from volunteer labor. This project is estimated to be 45/45/10, due to the outstanding number of volunteers.”
